Advantages: Simple to use OS with lots of built in features
Disadvantages: Expensive when their are lots of free solutions available

Advantages: use little of ram,high compatibility,easy to use,nice GUI

i m curently windows xp pro sp2 user and i found that sp2 is too vulnerable to viruses if compare with windows vista ultimate.( i m using it as well) First window xp pro sp2 comes out with only normal security but vista do offer window defender which is strong enough to detect most of the virus.
