The Best Opinionating Message Board

Advantages: The most user friendly opinion site related message board
Disadvantages: A rather lurid home page, some over heated discussions

Ever since I started review writing, more than four years ago, there has always been somewhere away from the consumer reviews sites where people can go to chat about either the sites themselves or anything that takes their fancy. These sites have been a chance to get away from review writing, reading and rating and foster a sense of community, long before Ciao ever had guest books. They've always been a little like going down the pub after work, ...
...know those people you've been interacting with on a daily basis that little bit better.

Back then, in 2001, there was only one place to go. The Opinionated Community, or OpCom as it was better known, was mostly run for Dooyoo members, as Ciao members were generally interacting at the Grope at this stage. Comprising of a message board and an attached chat room, it was very much the template for all future sites of this kind, with a ... more

So good, even Ciao browse!

Advantages: Lively & fun, good debating, no pop-ups
Disadvantages: Chat room rarely used, can be very quiet at weekends

Opinionators.co.uk appeared in the middle of 2004. It was created by Ciao's Andy.mack, and was provided with the intention of giving us opinionated people a place to play away from the opinion sites themselves such as Ciao and Dooyoo. I think it was a brave move considering past events at that time: ChatterWeb, one of the most successful forums of this type had sadly closed, and CiaoZone was suffering a slow and painful death from a seeming lack ...
...if people would be willing to get involved with yet another forum. Regardless, I joined Opinionators (Optors from now on) when it opened its doors on the 22nd June 2004, and have watched it grow over the past 6 months. I hang out there to pass a few hours of each day, and I even help out as a moderator. When you visit Optors [http://www.opinionators.co.uk], you'll find a basic but fast loading greeting page that offers links for other opinion related ...

Got an opinion to share?

Advantages: Simplicity of forum, ease of navigation, quality of conversation.
Disadvantages: Quiet at weekends, word association thread!

Are you someone that has views on how ciao works? Are you someone who likes to discuss the issues of ciao and try to understand the in’s and out’s of all the things that continue to baffle the vast majority of us? Are you someone who likes to talk about current affairs or any other random thing that pops into your head? Or are you just a nosey git who likes to know whats going on? Well you should type www.opinionators.co.uk into your browser and ...
...is it? ************** Opinionators is a chat board set up by Andy.mack to cater for all of the above situations and is generally a very good place to hang around. I find myself logged into the site on a daily basis and sometimes, even find myself logging into it before I do ciao just to find out what has been said to make sure I won’t miss anything! How does it work? ****************** The site has a very simple layout and after you get past ...

Bunch of work shy gobshites

Advantages: Good banter
Disadvantages: Can get a bit heated.

Like many people I started my review writing days on Ciao and then gravitated to Dooyoo as the rewards were better and eventually I came to enjoy the fact that compared with Ciao it was a relatively small community of active writers on the site. I had heard about a couple of message board sites and even received an invite to join one of them but at the time I had never really understood the purpose of them. I assumed that they were similar to chat ...
...and not the great place to groom young girls that I had been led to believe them to be. What is Opinionators? Basically it is a place where you can voice your own views and read the opinions of others on a whole range of topics however it is the main review writing sites of Ciao and Dooyoo that dominate the debate. On the site there are a number of forums that are set up, under each forum someone will posts a topic subject and then people will add ...

Come take an OpTor

Advantages: Varied personalties of members, well moderated, easy to navigate
Disadvantages: Unfairly given a bad name

Over my 6 years of writing there have been many 'opinionating forums' come and go - there was the original Yahoo Dooyoo Club, then there was OpCom, Chatterweb, several others and now amongst others theres Opinionators (here-on-in called OpTors), when it comes to talking to other members and discussing Dooyoo, Ciao and Opinionating, OpTors is the choice for a new generation. ** The Site itself ** Set up originally in June 2004 it's a forum led site ...
...to join up all you need to do is pick a username (not necessarily your username on any of the writing sites), give a valid e-mail address and pick a password as well and you're away, if you want you can include a personal signature and avatar (the little picture next to your name) but that is all up to you. Once you've joined its onto the actual posting side of things, there's several sub-forums set into different categories (all of which I'll get ...

Are you opinionated?

Advantages: Interesting topics, well designed, interesting members, lots of potential, Dooyoo interaction
Disadvantages: No direct Ciao contact

I liked ChatterWeb. I liked ChatterWeb a lot. It was a fun message board where you could talk about lots of things, but mainly around the opinion sites. It was populated by intelligent people who spoke their minds and offered up ideas on all sorts of things. Sadly, though, it seems that nothing lasts forever and in the four years I've been writing consumer opinions, I've seen quite a few message boards bite the dust for all manner of different reasons, ...
...member of CiaoZone (CZ - another Ciao-related forum) for a very brief period of time, but the site owner had gone AWOL and it was impossible to take the site forward without his influence, so the members looked elsewhere. CiaoZone is still there, somewhere, but a hacking crew has hijacked its front page effectively rendering it invisible and I doubt anyone's been near it in weeks. From CiaoZone, two new message boards appeared: Ciao Just Chatting ...
