Olympus 8X25 WP I

Advantages: Image adjustments to give great view, waterproof, adjustable eye-relief
Disadvantages: fixed magnification, average build and design quality

. But with the use of the Bak-4 prism, the small size of the lens is deemed unimportant. All-in-all the Olympus 8X25 WP I binoculars are great for camping trips or for destinations with pleasant views. And with the range of features to make your viewing experience all the more easier as well as being waterproof, it can prove to be money well spent. Other binoculars, which are in the same price range are fairly similar but have the disadvantage of not being waterproof. There are also may better than this but have a price tag which exceeds over £200. It is stated that the Olympus 8X25 WP I binoculars are intended for professional use, but I like to think of them as all round use for everyday people. This is because for the range of features you are getting a good deal and also because Olympus provide a 25 year guarantee with all their ...

Review of Olympus 8X25 WP I

Don't buy an Olymous X-42 ---- picture quality is dreadful.

Advantages: Classic good looks -- nice controls
Disadvantages: Really poor picture quality

For anybody thinking of buying a digital camera for Christmas I would strongly advise against buying the Olympus X-42. We bought an X-42 to replace our 4 year old Samsung Digimax A6. The dinky little 12mp Olympus cost more than the 6mp Samsung did over 4 years ago but in comparison the picture quality is dreadful, the lens seems good (as one would expect from Olympus) but when you try and blow up & crop an image it appears grainy and lacks detail in fact my old 1.2mp mobile phone takes pictures that are as almost good, I suspect the image sensor is just not up to the job. The other fault is it takes an age to process a picture before the next one can be taken. A real shame because it is a charming little camera and having enjoyed owning several Olympus cameras in the past I was expecting good things from it. I am now trying to get ...

Review of Olympus X-42

A Voyage Of Discovery

Advantages: Interesting exhibits
Disadvantages: lack of disabled access

I've passed by the RSS Discovery many times without visiting and when I had some Tesco days out vouchers to use up I decided to visit as it is next door to the Olympia leisure centre which the kids love visiting. The Royal Research Ship Discovery is the ship which Captain Scott used for his groundbreaking Antarctic expedition in 1901 and it has now been lovingly restored and sits in a custom built dock on the Firth of Tay near to the famous Tay road bridge. The first part of the exhibition is in the Discovery dome which is split into nine separate areas which tell the story of how Discovery was built, the Antarctic expedition and the men aboard the ship. The first exhibit you come to is a cinema which tells the story of the men involved in the expedition; most will have heard of Captain Scott but there were 45 men in total ...
