The HD73 looks to be another mid-range home cinema projector with its WXGA (1280 x 720) resolution, 1300 lumens, and 6000:1 contrast. However, Optoma does offer some improvements over its predecessor, the HD72, by using the new Texas Instruments DarkChip3 DLP chip which should create a much better picture. Other than that, its connectivity is pretty much the same: HDMI, DVI, and component RCA just to name a few.
Advantages: Great picture, little rainbow effect, good looking projector. Disadvantages: No internal speaker
...This is a really great projector, at a very impressive price (£529 on Play) - the cheapest WXGA I've seen! Many DLP projectors suffer from the "rainbow effect" but with this Optoma there is virtually no rainbow effect at all - this is due to the 4x speed colour wheel, which is faster than you would find in many other projectors. Out of the box, the picture is great. I found the yellows were maybe slightly muted but this can be adjusted by the on-screen menus. The actual projector looks very sleek - the black and silver case looks really classy - and it comes with all the inputs you could want, expect SCART, but don't worry - a SCART adapter comes in the box. Being HD ready, it's also got an HDMI port for your HD-DVD or Blu-ray. The remote is easy to use, and the buttons light up so you can see them in a darkened room. Thankfully...

Advantages: Built in DVD player, no need for wires linking up dvd players laptops etc Disadvantages: Nasty looking shape, cant be ceiling mounted effectively
