Advantages: budget price, excellent quality, good bulb life, replacement bulbs not extortionate, easy to use Disadvantages: it's only an SVGA projector
We have a bijou bedroom that wouldn?t suit a large-screen telly. But there?s a big open wall in front of our bed. So I came up with the idea of a projector. At well under £300 including delivery, from a firm called Ballicom International, this Optoma ES522 has proved ideal. We have it on a shelf above the bed which allows for a 2.8 metre throw onto the opposite wall upon which I?ve pasted a couple of sheets of custom-cut white lining paper (obtained from B&Q) and given them three coats of matt emulsion to make a cheap screen. For a rough estimate of the projected image size at this distance please visit the Optoma web site and refer to their brochure for the ES522. Leastwise, the image size is perfect for us.
This ES522 projector has three basic video connectors on the back: VGA (for a computer), composite video and S-Video. Frankly ...
Advantages: good price, short throw, its white! good menu, and glow in the dark remote Disadvantages: fan noise occasionally irritating.
To understand my review it is fair to tell you what my previous projector was, an Infocus X1 .
The optoma seems to be lighter in construction, i cant get away from the feeling that its less robust than the infocus ( like a tank). I suppose a good point is that its white so is less intrusive as it hangs from the ceiling. The good point is that the lens has a shorter throw distance, and so if you have small space you can achieve a respectable image size, something that my x1 failed on.The picture quality is very good, to be honest, dont watch normal tv through it, you will be dissapointed, give it a high def signal of 720 or 1080 and you,ll love it. Nice colour reproduction, the tonal qualities good, pretty good blacks, and i havnt noticed a rainbow effect.
My seating is directly below it, and the fan noise can be slightly offputting in its ...
Advantages: Friendly Atmosphere Disadvantages: Not A Tourist Destination
I am sure very few people will have heard of this place let alone have been to it. Those amongst us who are fans of the game of football may have come across the name from previous encounters with Arsenal and from the Fifa 2002 World Cup. However, not only is it famed for its football club but it provides the region with numerous activities for those passionate Frenchmen who have grown up here. To me Lens is a town from which my background is held in part. My mother was born in its vicinity and it remains the home of my grandparents; thus it holds a magic which is close to my heart. I have no doubt left you dear reader wondering where this review is heading, well... it is about time that we got on with the show...
Location and Transport Links (the boring stuff)
Lens is located in the North of France, the Pas-de-Calais region ...
