The Oral B CrossAction first came to my attention in 2002 after a period of a couple of years where I had not been using satisfactory toothbrushes. On my dentist’s recommendation, I picked one of these up, and was I glad I did? You bet.
Available from some dental practices and from major supermarkets, the CrossAction retails at a hefty £2.99 – about double what I would normally be willing, or expect, to pay for a toothbrush. It is available in a variety of different colours, the secondary colour always being white, whereas the primary colour can be chosen from the range: I have used blue and lime green. These toothbrushes are packaged in a plastic-covered blue cardboard, typical of the Oral B product range.
So, it is more expensive than competitors’ products, but what does it do to deserve the higher price tag? The bristles are of different lengths, and direct towards different angles, aiming to maximise cleaning power. Additionally, there are extra long bristles at the end of the brush to help reach those teeth right at the back with ease. Cleverly, the shorter blue bristles fade when it is recommended you buy a new brush. My last one was with me for four months.
How has it worked for me, then? Put simply, this is the most effective toothbrush I have ever used. The alternately facing bristles mean that my teeth get cleaner quicker when brushing, whilst the tip has been invaluable for reaching and cleaning my back teeth as well as my front ones. The contoured handle makes holding this toothbrush a real pleasure, and the grip means that it won’t slide through your fingers even when it is wet. They really have thought of everything. It is really easy to use, and almost makes brushing your teeth fun! My brush has medium bristles, but softer ones are available if your gums are painful. At first, I was a bit sceptical of paying this price for a mere toothbrush, however I now believe that extra bit of money to be worth it, after all, who doesn’t want their teeth to look nice?
The condition of my teeth prior to using this brush was not great (that’s why I was in the Dentist’s chair!). However, since using this brush my teeth have much improved, even though I have continued using the same toothpaste that I was using before. Remember, it is recommended you brush your teeth twice a day, and this is especially important if you have a high-sugar diet because the sugar will quickly affect your dental health, and who enjoys a visit to the dentist?
In conclusion, this is a must-buy for me anytime I need a new toothbrush. It is great to hold, it cleans well, and it has my dentist’s approval. I have not experienced any dental problems in using it, for a year now, and I am very happy with it overall. Maybe the price is a little on the steep side, but they have to get money to pay for their patents somewhere! Quality comes at a cost, and this is a cost I am prepared to meet. I recommend this to you with a smile, especially if you want to keep that dentist away!!

Advantages: Cleans thoroughly and quickly Disadvantages: Expensive
I had a nasty shock recently. I'm a bit useless when it comes to packing for trips away, and always forget one essential item. Usually it's my contact lens solution, but last weekend I arrived in Manchester only to realise I'd forgotten my toothbrush. My initial relief at having forgotten something so cheap was eroded quickly when I arrived at the relevant stand in Boots. Having converted to electric toothbrushes three years ago, it's some time since ... ...here was the shock - boy, are they expensive!
I eventually selected the Oral-B CrossAction toothbrush. It was the most expensive of the bunch, but it looked impressive and I've always been happy with my Oral-B electric toothbrushes. They're available in 8 colours, and three head sizes, with Soft or Medium bristles, although I've found that most supermarkets and chemists will not stock the full range. As an added bonus, when I got to the checkout, ...

...always been pleased with the Oral B toothbrushes, and I’ve been buying them since around 20 years ago, when I remember my dentist recommended them to me. It may even be longer ago that that, but I’m showing my age here!

This is where I think I need to introduce the ® sign every now and then, if it reproduces OK here!
The packaging proudly mentions various things such as “Power tip bristles” and “CrossCross” bristles, both of which have the ® sign. The powertip bristles are at the very tip of the toothbrushes, the part ...

By this Oral B Criss cross brush I find that it protects my gums from the infections caused to it. I think many dentists also suggest the toothbrush.

Oral-B CrossAction toothbrush with "unique crossaction" bristles that point in opposite directions to help give a better tooth clean. It even has indicator bristles that fade half way to let you know when you need to replace your brush...how clever is that?

Most supermarkets and chemists stock them and, like i say, they come in various colours making it easy to identify who's is who's if more than one person in your house has one.
