You will struggle to find a better toothbrush in terms of performance per unit cost. It has been this way since its release. I have had one of these brushes for years and it never seems to let me... more

Advantages Advantages Cleans teeth well, reasonably inexpensive, rechargeable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lots of newer models have been made, needs a two pin charger

My dentist is an odd man. He once told me that, whilst chocolate was bad for my teeth, whisky neutralised the sugar so I should wash every Mars bar down with a wee dram. And, when a healthcare professional recommends something, who am I to argue? Apart from that quirk, he seems to be ageing in reverse. I've been a patient of his since I was a child and then he looked like the average middle-aged dentist: 'tache, salt and pepper hair and the kind of pallor one associates with working opposite a graveyard in rainy 'ol Belfast. Now, though, he positively radiates health and looks younger than I ... more

My wife had always wanted an electric toothbrush on the advice of her dentist, and so when we moved into our first house together, this was one of the things that we put on our “to buy” list. Around 5 years ago, and with money obviously tight, we decided to buy the Oral B Professional Care 500 Toothbrush. This particular toothbrush was my first experience with the joys of electric, and I was keen to see why so many dentists seem to be recommending them. We decided to go with Oral B as they are one of the most recognisable brands in the dental hygiene field and we felt it was one in which we ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Packaging is really tough and can not be re-used! Takes a long time to charge.

Braun Oral-B Professional Care 500 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush This was the first electric toothbrush I ever purchased. My dentist advised me that you can get a better clean with an electric version, in contrast to the manual toothbrush. I am really lazy when it comes to flossing as well, so I thought this toothbrush would benefit my oral health. Obviously, having never used one before, I decided to get a cheap one, in case I didn’t get on with it. Orab B is an established brand that I had heard of, and it claims that it is the number one most dentist-recommended toothbrush worldwide ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none for me.

When I flied from London to Beijing something wrong happened with my luggage and my Braun Oral-B Professional Care 6000 Toothbrush didn’t work. It was a disaster to people like me who care their teeth too seriously. So I immediately visited Amazon website. Then I found Braun Oral-B Professional Care 500 that was on sale for £22.45. Six weeks later when I came back I saw my Braun Oral-B Professional Care 500 at home. Packaging: Braun Oral-B Professional Care 500 comes in a polystyrene pack contained in a cardboard box. There are two brush heads, one brush handle, one charging unit and one usage ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't last as long between charges as I'd like, full RRP is expensive

An electric toothbrush might not seem the most romantic of birthday presents but it was what I requested from my husband last year, as he asked for ideas for gifts. I'd read several positive reviews of toothbrushes from the Braun Oral-B Professional Care range and gave him specific instructions about which model to buy and where it was on offer at the time. True to form, he ignored my specifications and came back with this model, the Professional Care 500, saying it was 'better' than the one I had chosen. (In other words, it was slightly more expensive!) This toothbrush comes supplied with its ... more

How to clean the electric toothbrush handle?

Is it ok to wash the handle with water and soap. Can I give it a soapy wash? I want to do that, because of the handle becomes really dirty while brushing (toothpaste and saliva). Only wipe with a damp cloth is not enough I think. If it is waterproof enough, is it better to clean it in the kitchen sink using a sponge and some dish soap.
