Pay 'very little' as you go

Advantages: very cheap calls and texts to other virgin mobile users
Disadvantages: Zilch

I've been with Virgin Mobile for the past three years now. My sister introduced me to them as she had been with them even longer and was amazed at how low their prices were. I have used Pay as you go with every phone I have had as if I were to go on contract, there would be no stopping me and the bill would be a huge amount. With Pay as you go at least you can monitor your spending and stop yourself spending money you havent got (in my case anyway!). A bit of background on Virgin -------------------------------------- Virgin Mobile launched its operations as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in November 1999. Virgin Mobile started as a joint venture between Virgin and T-Mobile. In January 2004, Virgin purchased from T-Mobile all of the shares that T-Mobile owned in Virgin Mobile. Within a two years of Virgins launch ...

T-Mobile Mates-Rates? They're Great, Mates!

Advantages: 5p text (or per minute talk) ANYTIME to fellow T-Mobile users
Disadvantages: If you use your phone mainly to call other networks, or spend more than £40 per month you may be worse off !

the assistant behind the desk about choosing the tariff. The process of changing your tariff is so simple the worst technophobe can do it. It is even purely automatic, and can be done at anytime you have your phone with you. To change from the normal tariff onto "Mates Rates" you dial 146 - then a few 1, 1, 1 choices later (to choose and confirm the new tariff), you are informed that you will receive a text message soon to confirm that you are now on the new tariff. A few minutes later, your text arrives and you are saving money! You can swap back and forth as often as you wish, but each time you must await the text message to confirm your new tariff. If for instance you want to talk at length to a friend who is on Vodaphone, Orange, Virgin or any other network - you CAN change back to the "Relax" Pay-as-you-go tariff by dialing ...

Orange Pay As You Go

Advantages: Free Txt's Off Peak, Free Orange 2 Orange Talktime
Disadvantages: Difficult to speak to customer services!

After 5 years of being on contract with O2 (Originally BT Genie), circumstances changed and as a mature university student I simply couldn't afford the bills - I had to find a way of saving money! This tariff is FANTASTIC for me. With 3000 off peak txts - 7pm to 12am - I can text until my heart's content, without fear of huge bills! Their current deal (Top up £15 a month and get 3000 off peak txt's and 600 free minutes to other Orange mobile users) is great for anyone, like me, who has friends/family on Orange. The only down sides that I have found so far is that the free minutes are a month in arrears, so your first month you have to pay for all your calls regardless of time or network. Once you're through this stage, for £15 you get 600 off peak minutes to other Orange mobiles, 3000 off peak messages, and £15 of credit ...
