With Orange contracts, here comes the confusing bit!!!- with orange original tariffs such as Talk60, everyday 50. There standards tariffs they give you free insurance for the year - except for the boxed and ready accounts and the OVP price plans (the ones where you price match onto the ornage network like anytime60 (one 2 one) or virgin etc... where they dont give you it for free - the meanies!!!
So if you ... ...you dont want a standard orange plan that gives the cheapest or even no policy excess.
However, if you have to pay for orange insurance for one year at £5 per month, if you plan to continue to cover that contract for a further year then ornage will give you 20% off, which is a nice little sweetener to carry on with insuring your handset, at a lower price the industry norm. ... more
There are many pros and cons to insurance, and half the time you will find you wont need it ever. Its one of those things in life that if you dont get it, the law (you know the one I mean that tends to effect me more the most!) will come into application!

So if you thining of plumping, for a standard orange tariff but your not sure, then the £60 youll save if you would purchase insurance otherwise might just tilt the balance in the favour of the standard tariffs from orange!
The issue is what do u get for it? Well if you personnally want to buy it direct it will cost you £5 per month for the first year 9 if you dont get it for free that is). If you phone stops working - through no personnal damage caused by yourself then they will send you a replacement FOC but you will have to send the damaged handset back to them- however they do do this for you say if you didnt have insurance and youd bought a T18 and it stopped working they would send you a new one for £20, which compared to the £60 for the insurance for a year?? Umm you think... is it worth it?
Well, if you were to drop your phone, or ride over it with a car, or loose it then you might have to pay around £25-40 in policy excess for a replacement handset depending on the small print (ouch!!!)
However, they can be a little funny if you loose your phone from expernce and the best thing you can do is say that you had it stolen , so that you are still covered by the insurance, and for this to comply you owuld need to get a crime number - so before you phone them up dnt forget to phone the police, otherwiseyou might get yourself into a little bit of a pickle!!
The other edge of the coin is if you are a clumsy person and you have a tendancy to leave things on buses and trains, or you work or are a student in a busy place where theft is a possiblity then be warned, you have to pay for the calls that the theif makes, and the cost of a new handset, and also the opportunity cost of missed calls to you (eek) This can be as it happend to my friend around a £200 costly experience.
So just think about it and way up the pros and cons for yourself, and when you purchase any type of phone beit ornage, cellnet, voda etc.. pay as you talk or contract, ask where your buying it from what about insurance does anything come with it free or can you offer me your own insurance at a cheaper cost???? My motto is if you dont ask you never find out, so dont feel embarassed its your right to know what your options are, but always ask about how much policy excess would i have to pay if its lost or stolen- and try and find the insurance if you dont want a standard orange plan that gives the cheapest or even no policy excess.
However, if you have to pay for orange insurance for one year at £5 per month, if you plan to continue to cover that contract for a further year then ornage will give you 20% off, which is a nice little sweetener to carry on with insuring your handset, at a lower price the industry norm.
Advantages: all round cover, easy to claim Disadvantages: occasional dificulties on technicalities but thats normal with insurance
...good option. Some of the Orange pay monthly tariffs do have Orange Care and Orange Warranty attached to them so you pay nothing and get all the benefits!!!
If your phone is lost or stolen, you must report it stolen and obtain a crime reference number within 24 hours or your claim is not covered. This is where you need to be aware of the terms and conditions if your handset is left unattended at any time there is a good chance the insurance will ... ...you report it to the Orange helpdesk they do need to run a diagnostic on the handset, which is usually done over the phone. Any more complex problems need to be referred to a technical department. If either the system or the technical department come back with the answer that either the sim or the handset is faulty a replacement can be arranged. If you did make a claim and were successful, your replacements should generally be with you within the ...

Advantages: They replace your phone within 24 hours Disadvantages: It costs £6 a month but well worth it
...since then I have paid Orange £5 a month ( It has just gone up to £6) for the insurance, and to be fair I have used it a lot more than I thought I would.
There have been several occasions where the phone has gone faulty through no fault of my own, so I have spoken to Orange and they will send a replacement phone within 24 hours which is fantastic, but you have to give them your old handset and they replace it with a brand new one.
But there have ... ...not to keen on giving you a new phone free of charge if you have just lost it, so you need to tell them it was stolen and get a crime reference number from the police. Now depending on who you speak to and if they are in a good mood they will waive the excess fee which I think is around £10, You have to put on a really sad voice and tell them that if they don't give you it for free you are going to cancel your insurance, and they will then let you ...

Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: The £15 "admin" fee
...my contract phones covered with Orange insurance for 3 years and in that space of time i had 2 phones replaced. 1 stolen, 1 damaged.
On the occasion that my phone was stolen i had to pay a £15 admin fee which was probably the only pain with this cover. But on the 2nd occasion because the phone was damaged through no fault of my own they didn't ask this of me. The claim took about 10mins & once i'd given over all the information I always had my new ... ...month on top of my bill. I wanted a Nokia N96 and Orange were charging alot. So I got my upgrade via carphone warehouse, which means I can't take advantage of Orange Insurance and Carphone were asking for £14 a month for insurance so i haven't bothered this time. ...

Quick review of Orange Insurance
I was with orange care for about 3 years & had 2 phones replaced through them.
I had never had the phone lost or stolen, so i can't comment on how easy it was to get a new one following this. But on both occasions the phone just stopped working, they'd send out someone the next day who took the old phone & replaced it with a new one. On the 2nd occasion I didn't evenhave to pay the £15 admin fee because i argued that the fault was due to the phone & nothing that i had done to it.
No complaints from me. I'm actually quite disappointed that I upgraded through Carphone Warehouse because now I can't be on Orange Care anymore! ...

Advantages: Covers your mobile against loss and water damage Disadvantages: Has a £25 excess for theft and £50 for loss
When looking for mobile phone insurance it can be a bit of a minefield. The big names like Orange, O2 and Vodaphone all can supply insurance when you purchase a phone and other lesser known companies also arrange insurance.
The big players have quite a limited policy, so I found whilst doing my research so I looked at the mobile phone insurance specialists.
The two main mobile phone insurers I found were CUSC and insure-your-mobile.
The policy with CUSC was cheaper at £3.45 per month, but the main thing I wanted to be covered is excluded. CUSC do not cover accidental loss (something quite easily done with a mobile phone)CUSC have a £25 excess on their policy, as do insure-your-mobile for theft claims.
Because I thought the policy was a little limited I looked at www.insure-your-mobile.co.uk - The monthly premium is £5 ...
I turned down Orange Care (a comprehensive but expensive way to insure your phone) in favour of something a little cheaper - CUSC Foneguard.
The "who the heck are they" thought crossed my mind but I read their webpages (not the slickest ever, but functional all the same) and spoke to their staff and it reassured me enough to go with them.
The cost is £2.99/month (standing order) for contract phones, and a flat fee (can't remember how much) for pay-as-you-go. These prices seem to apply no matter what phone you have. Not the most comprehensive cover ever, but in my view it's absolutely adequate, with theft, physical damage, water damage etc. all being covered.
Setting it up is simple - register your details online and they send you the necessary paperwork, detailing cover etc. Sign the agreement and the standing order, tell them ...
Advantages: Covers your mobile phone against loss, theft and water damage Disadvantages: There is an excess to pay - but all policies have this
Mobile phone insurance appears to be big business:- more and more names are popping up out of no-where.
I wanted to insure my phone because I am the sort of person who leaves it on a train or drops it down the toilet!
I looked at the the big names like Orange, O2 and Vodaphone who all have their own insurance when you purchase a phone and also looked at the multitude of other lesser known companies.
I am with Orange so looked at them first - they don't cover my main areas of concern - loss and water damage - neither do any of the big names. So I went to the "mobile phone insurance specialists" .
Mobile-phone-insurance.net cover your mobile phone for:- loss, theft, water damage, accidental damage, fraudulent calls, extended warranty and international cover. This looks like a cracking policy. There must be some exclusions ...
