I have been with orange for around 10 years. At first I started off on pay as you go. All I did was pop the simcard into my phone, register it which was very easy and off I went. Topping it up with £10.00 now and again.
As I got older I used my phone alot more, so these £10.00's now and again were becoming a couple of times a week. That is when I decided to go for an Orange network contract.
From the bit of research I did it looked like Orange had the best deals on for me at the time. They were offering 600 minutes of talk time and unlimited texts for £35.00 a month. Which is great for me as I am a big fan of texting a do it all the time.
It was easy enough to get a contract phone, I went to my local Orange store and they were delighted I was getting a contract. I got to pick my phone of choice, which were all the latest models. I think my first contract phone was a Samsung - not too sure though.
I signed a few papers and off I went, sim card in phone, monthly direct debit for £35.00 a month and as many text messages as I wanted to send. The contract I took out was over 18months.
Sooo 18 Months later time to renew? Orange agreed if I stayed with them they would reduce my payments to £30.00 for the same deal just a few less minutes. (Think they reduced it to 500 minutes instead) I agreed as I wasn't using all the minutes provided anyway.
All was going well so far, I received my first bill for my renewed contract - however as I pay monthly direct debit it wasn't a problem. That was until I got a reminder for an unpaid amount. I tried calling the contact centre to find out what had happened however 20 minutes later I hadn't even spoken to anyone.
I decided to go online, pay the amount and then reset my direct debit. This was fine except the Orange website wouldn't put my payment through. Neither would the automated system. I had plenty of money in my bank account so that wasn't the issue.
I went online and requested a direct debit is set up (to include the unpaid amount) I am still waiting for a response.
I find it strange that they are requesting money, yet when you throw it at them they find it hard to take.
This incident has put me off Orange now, and I am very dissapointed in their lack of good customer service. I think when my contact runs out I am going to try a different network. Just have a try anyway.

I am with Orange and I get upset when I call customer services and they always sound like they just woken up after sleepnig on the job and we have rudely startled them.
Advantages: 5 Free Texts a Day, £5 free talk time, a free beach bag if you're lucky! Disadvantages: Used to cost £14.99 (one off-payment), now £19.99 a year, can't use them abroad
