*~*Introduction and reason for purchase*~*

Most people who regularly read my reviews will no doubt be aware of my love of beauty products..particularly if they are from the french beauty company Yves Rocher. I have been a customer for over 18 years now and the reason I go back to them time and time again is that their products work wonderfully on my skin and not only that they smell beautiful.

I tend to order about every 4 to 5 months from them (I could spend a small fortune given the chance) and on my last order there was an offer on of 'buy 2 shower gels for £3' which I took full advantage of and one of the shower gels I purchased was this - Organic Mallow Shower Cream - which my review will now focus on.

*~*Price, packaging & availability*~*

As this is an exclusive Yves Rocher product it is available to buy in the following ways:
  • By phoning the orderline on 0870 049 22 22
  • *Online @www.yves-rocher.co.uk
  • **In store (they have shops sporadically dotted about in several countries)
  • ***Via one of their mailing leaflets
  • ****By checking out Ebay which always has a large range of new products at much cheaper prices

If ordering via the mailing leaflets they also offer a 3 month credit facility subject to status which I have taken advantage of in the past so it's worth noting this if ordering this way.

Organic Mallow Shower Cream comes in one size only which is a reasonable 200ml and currently costs £2.35, which for a YR product is very cheap, though I tend to wait for offers such as the 2 for £3 making them even more of a bargain.

The packaging is quite simplistic being in an upright plastic bottle which is thin at the sides with a wide frontal appearance. The bottle tapers in slightly upwards towards the neck and is finished off with a green flip top lid, whilst the front features the logo and a small picture of a pink flower. There is nothing overly decorative about the packaging but it's pleasant enough and looks quite charming perched on the side of my bath.

*~*What Yves Rocher have to say about this product*~*

"...discover this shower cream made from organic mallow cream from La Gacilly. It's creamy PH balanced texture transforms into a sumptuous lather to offer a pleasant sensation of gentleness whilst leaving skin softer and more supple.."

*~*My experience of using Organic Mallow Shower Cream*~*

When I spotted this amongst the shower gels and creams in the mailing leaflet I was sent, I liked the sound of it immediately and decided to order a bottle in conjunction with a lavender fragranced gel to take advantage of the 2 for £3 offer. As I haven't tried this particular shower cream before as it is relatively new I thought £1.50 wasn't too bad a price to pay to try it, especially if I didn't like it.

I have since used up the lavender shower gel (separate review to follow) and decided last week to try this organic mallow shower cream next..

The cream is part of the Jardins Du Monde range which features some beautiful, fresh and natural aromas and having being impressed with the lavender gel, which is also part of the range, I was equally looking forward to testing this out too.

To access the shower cream there is a flip top lid as mentioned which is perched directly on top of the bottle, and in true Yves Rocher style it is impossible to open without breaking a few nails along the way. It fastens with a 'click' when pressed back down to close though if left upright standing you could get away with leaving the lid open at all times, though as I'll go into detail in a moment I don't store it in this way.

After finally opening the lid I expected a soft, cotton flower type aroma and was deeply disappointed to find that the shower cream is almost void of fragrance. On squeezing said cream in to the palm of my hands I found it to be very thick in consistency with an odd, almost lumpy, texture - not what I was expecting at all. The fragrance was slightly more evident once removed from the packaging though due to it's weakness it was difficult still to detect.

I found once the cream was applied to my damp skin whilst in the shower it slightly redeemed itself by lathering up instantly and created softly scented bubbles which felt almost velvety against my skin.

*~*Results and recommendations*~*

When choosing a shower cream, or any beauty product really, I am always drawn to something with a fragrance of some kind as it's my preference as I am personally not a fan of fragrance free products. I have found that the Jardins Du Monde range up until now have all offered beautiful and natural fragrances which have been quite concentrated if anything but was disappointed with the lack of aroma that Organic Mallow had to offer.

Performance wise I can't really condemn it at all as it lathers up straight away and not only cleanses my skin thoroughly but leaves it feeling soft and supple after each use. My husband uses whichever shower gel is within reach and he commented on how he liked this as it left his skin feeling refreshed and very clean after using, though myself I'm slightly sat on the fence over it.

I would probably still recommend this shower cream especially to anyone that likes very delicate aromas or even fragrance free products as it does actually work well and does what it is supposed to.

I have found that because of the thickness of the gel it is easier to store this upside down in my shower caddy as it makes pouring easier though this also means fiddly lids and broken nails each time. Though it is a thick cream my husband left the lid slightly open and stored upside down and I found it did leak so would advise against storing in this way.

*~*Miscellaneous*~*

  • The formula has been certified organic by ECOCERT
  • *Paraben free
  • **PH balanced
  • ***100% natural fragrance

*~*Conclusion*~*

An okay product as it cleanses and leaves skin feeling very soft and even hydrated but the lack of overall fragrance means I will give this a miss in the future.

3/5.
