Organix First Organic Baby Rice 4mth+ Wholegrain

My daughter started showing signs that she was ready to be weaned at around the four month mark. Currently, the government guidelines state that you should wait until your baby is 6 months before you start to introduce food but obviously every baby is different. There are only limited products available that you are able to give from 4 months onwards. One of these products is the Organix First Organic Wholegrain Baby Rice.

Organix actually produce a rather large range of baby food products. One thing I like about Organix is that they have a “no junk promise” which means their products contain no added sugar, no colourings and no artificial flavourings.

My parents actually first bought us this product and suggested we use it to introduce Molly to a texture rather than the liquid milk that she was used to. The idea is that you mix baby’s usual milk, be it breast or formula with some of the rice and make a paste to feed your baby. In theory, because it wont taste too dissimilar to your baby’s usual milk, it is a gentle way of getting your baby used to solids as they only need to deal with the new texture rather than a new texture and taste at the same time.

The very first time we used this product we made Molly a very milky paste, with much more milk than was recommended. The idea was that we didn’t want to give her anything too solid as she was still relatively young but we wanted to see how she would cope with having something other than just milk. We needed have worried; she literally inhaled the entire lot!

Molly is now nearly six months and eats three meals, well purees a day but Organix is a brand that we go back to time and time again. We have tried using other products that are similar such as Cow and Gate baby rice but it just doesn’t match up to Organix. One thing I love about the Organix baby rice is that it is made with baby’s usual milk and for some reason; this means that it is really easy to mix. Most of the other baby rice’s we have tried are made with water and whenever we mix them, the mixture goes really lumpy and is difficult to feed to our baby (who shouldn’t be having lumps anyway!)

Molly usually has Organix first organic wholegrain baby rice for breakfast. She has home made purees for her other meals throughout the day and just recently, I have stirred a homemade strawberry puree into her rice which basically makes her a strawberry porridge for breakfast.

A 100 gram box of Organix baby rice costs £1.69 and you would be surprised at how long that will last you so I think that it is pretty good value for money. Each breakfast uses only two tablespoons of this product so a little really does go a long way.

I am a very big fan of this product so obviously I would recommend it. Like I mentioned earlier, we have used other products and keep coming back to Organix so that must say something. This can be used on its own as just a baby rice meal or you can mix in other purees both sweet and savoury and turn this into another dish completely
