Origin Storage Hard drive 200 GB

Advantages: very cheap for its size, under 30p a GB
Disadvantages: Slower than SATA

...this hard drive is very good value for money at under 30p per gigabyte. its easy to install for anyone who knows at least a little about the inside of computers. i have found that this drive works best as a slave drive (not the drive with the operating system on) and is very reliable at storing masses of data. i have yet to experience a single problem with this drive and i have had it for almost a year now. it doesn't show any noticable performance issues even after it has been on for several days. the amount of data on the drive also doesn't affect it in any noticable way. you don't need to enable anything in the BIOS after instalation. to format the drive go into control panels, then into administrative tools, then computer management, then storage, then disc management. right click on the new drive and format. easy as that.... ...I think everyone needs an external hard drive. The Freecom 160gb Hard drive is excellent value for money and a must if you really do need the additional storage space, or if you wish to back up valuble data. I never used to consider portable hard drives as an option, until one day my Laptop decided to crash on me, the repair bill was nearly £200 where as If I had a backup of all my data it would have been a site lot cheaper to repair it. Every since then I have always considered hard drives essential, not just for storage, but to backup your laptop or pc. This hard drive is a small compact one with the capacity for most peoples needs, in fact 160gb is a site lot more than most laptops come with as standard, and as this is compact it could quite easily be carried around with you. ...Me and all my team use these memory sticks at work and would recommend them to anyone. They are brill at transferring data between computers and back again, etc. Fast access time as well. I bought a universal (unbranded) 1Gb USB stick off ebay and it takes forever to transfer 200Mb +, but this one can do it in a 3rd of the time. I was inpressed. They are very strong and built to last. Excellent storage capacity. Windows XP ghost image no problem what so ever and the time it takes is just like running it from the hard drive. You get most of the 4Gb space as well, compared to some USB sticks that say 1Gb, 2Gb etc and you dont get like 400Mb or something like that...... Read review
