...The Akasa Integral external storage enclosure, is a great device for individuals who wish to perhaps expand there laptop with more hard disc drive space, or perhaps for those who wish to retrieve the data from a damaged laptop, that still has a working hard drive. I found the device incredibly handy when my laptop crashed, and I had no way of accessing the data. All I did was remove the hard drive from the laptop and insert it into the storage enclosure device, and away I went, full access again to all my data, just by plugging it into another desktop or laptop. There’s no complicated software to install on the computer, just plug it In and you can access the data as if it was on a flash drive. There are no mains plugs involved, it use's a USB port from the desktop or laptop to power its self, and it also comes with a protective cover... Read review

...WHY ? """"""""""" Why, you might ask, would anyone want a NEWlink USB 2.0 IDE & SATA Hard Drive Enclosure ? And even more to the point, why would such a person buy one, admit it and then go ahead and review it? The answer my friend, is not blowing in the wind.! It was sitting on my shelf. It was a spare 80GB hard drive, that I had taken out of my PC when I put in a larger drive. It annoyed me that this major investment when I first built my PC was now sitting idly by, giving me no return for my money. Neither was there much point looking to dispose of it through Exchange & Mart, Ebay or the local shop window ads - who wants a redundant hard drive ? - especially when mine is SATA. ...ICY BOX can be considered as a top-end hard disc enclosure with sophisticated looks and a great finish it creates a very modern look complete with neon blue lights on its edges. I bought the ICY BOUGHT to install a 250 GB Maxtor hard disk I bought to act as extra storage space for my laptop, whose 100 GB had filled up quickly with a growing collection of media files. The plug and play nature also lets me transfer large files between PCs and my laptop if needed. Installation of a hard disc is very easy thanks to easy access provided by the four thumb screws which are simply to remove by hand. The IDE and power cables then simply slot into the appropiate slots on the rear of the hard disc. The enclosure is for a 3.5" hard drive with ATA-133 connectivity.
