Browsing the shelves in the supermarket, I stumbled across the Original Source range, I say stumbled: the bright colours and bold writing of the Original Source range stood out above all other similar products, making them hard to miss. I had heard a lot of positive comments about this range and as the shower gels were buy one get one free; I decided to give it a whirl.
The Tea Tree and Lemon; is the shower gel that appealed to me; a bright yellow liquid contained within a bottle; In keeping with all Original Source products, the bottle has bold black writing on the front (see pictures). This combination of strong colours and strong text; sets the Original Source range apart from the other shower gels available. Original Source, Tea Tree and Lemon, is made by ‘Cussons’ and is available in 250ml bottles; priced at £1.99 (although this may differ from store to store.) This product can be found in all supermarkets and I have seen them in a couple of ‘corner shops’. All Original Source products are made with natural fruit and plant extracts; not synthetic fragrances. Curiously upon the Tea Tree and Lemon shower gel it displays the symbol that suggests that it is suitable for vegans. The Original Source range; do not test on animals and the packaging is recyclable (very eco friendly!).
Upon reading the back of the bottle; it provides a cute little history of the Original Source Range. The tale tells like this; ‘The Original Source range of shower products is inspired by the bush remedies of Ellen Wakeman. Daughter of missionaries in New South Wales, she disgraced her family when she ran away to join the Australian Gold rush in 1857. By means left vague in the records of time, Ellen persuaded a barber to take her on as an apprentice. While learning to shave whiskers and pull prospectors teeth, she also discovered the healing powers of the plants that grow in the outback – and became famous for her herbal cures.’
(I think this is quite a nice ‘original’ quirk for a shower gel; to inform the consumer of its history.)
The Tea Tree and Lemon shower gel is claimed to ‘make your senses come alive’. The formula helps to reduce oily skin and the citrus elements refresh and revive you; leaving your skin soft and feeling refreshed.
The directions are to work over the body with a wet sponge whilst in the shower. You can use this to wash your hair; if you do so, only a small amount is required. Avoid contact with your eyes; should contact be made; rinse your eyes immediately. People with sensitive skin should always test products on a small area of their skin; prior to use.
On using the product; the smell hits you straight away; the Tea Tree and Lemon aroma is very intense; yet is also very pleasant. The liquid is pretty thick and lathers well. As claimed the citrus oils do indeed leaving you feeling remarkably refreshed; which is terrific for people similar to me: who absolutely hate getting out of bed (with a vengeance) and generally feel tired and groggy for the best part of the morning. The Tea Tree and Lemon shower gel refreshes and revives you leaving you ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’ and all motivated for the day ahead. I find it actually has the opposite effect to its claims on oily skin; I don’t suffer from excessively oily skin; but after using the Tea Tree and Lemon shower gel on my face; I suddenly had an oil problem. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend this for facial use.
Tea Tree and Lemon also claim to be suitable for use as a hair washing product. I personally thought otherwise; having longish, fine hair, the shower gel caused it to dry out; and without conditioner to accompany it, my hair knotted very easily and felt greasy and lifeless fairly early on in the day. Even following its use with conditioner; I still didn’t feel this wasn’t suitable as shampoo; the result wasn’t as bad; but by no means acceptable. Although, having said that; my husband uses it to wash his hair and reports satisfactory results. Overall for general body wash, this product is terrific and the smell lasts almost all day. The bottle is very practical; the lid fits to the bottom of the bottle, and acts as a hanger; so that you can hang it from the shower lead (or whatever you want it to hang from). The dispenser is drip free and so the shower gel can be left hanging indefinitely.
I think that this product is of very high quality; but the appropriateness of it depends on your ‘beauty regimes’ and life style. It is completely suitable for my husband and he has nothing but praise for the product. For me; I like the refreshing and reviving start to the day that it gives you; however I do like to wear perfume and with the smell being as powerful as it is; I am only able to use one or the other: The ‘Oscar de la Renta’ perfume wins and I shall buy shower gels that do no have such strong aromas.
Original source offer a whole range of products; including shower gels; shampoos; conditioners; bath foams; shave gels; anti-perspirant deodorant; hand washes; bar soaps and facial products.

Review of Original Source Tea Tree & Lemon Shower Gel
...the full sized bottle.
Original Source as you are all probably well aware of by now, produce a variety of hair; body and face care products suitable for men and women. The range is quite limited at the moment, with new body sprays just having been launched recently. Original Source appealed to me personally because they use natural ingredients and essential aromatherapy oils in their products but more importantly, are animal friendly. Neither the ... ...shower gel sample off the Original Source website, quite pleased that I actually had a say for once in what freebies I was sent and then awaited its arrival. I must stop and reflect for a moment upon how sad my existence has become that I actually eagerly awaited receiving a free sachet of shower gel through the post. The event of which was most likely to be the highlight of that particular day. I didn’t, however, time how long it took to land through ...

Having used my first free sample from www.originalsource.co.uk I was getting a little inpatient waiting for the next. When it finally arrived yesterday morning, I had my evening planned straight away. I was going to come home from work, have my tea and then pamper myself with a nice long, hot, steamy shower and a facial. I looked forward to it all day.

Could they produce another shower gel, that worked as well as the first, or was it that they sent you the best one first, and the other seven were going to be rubbish? Read on, and lets see.

...my next free sample of Original Source. In fact every morning when the postman arrived I was breaking out in a sweat. You see; I couldn’t quite decide whether I would be brave enough to use the shower gel for that all over body experience. For those of you that read my op on the tea tree and mint gel you will be aware that I had a rather fiery encounter. As much as I would like a nice hunky fireman to come and hose me down I’m not sure that the husband ... ...know if I use another Original Source that contains mint. Apart from the obvious area’s to avoid if you have sensitive skin you should also avoid the eyes. I don’t use it for washing my hair but you can, if you do just take care as I imagine it would sting the eyes quite badly. Original Source bottles are available from almost everywhere and are generally see through plastic with a black lid that you can hang on the side of the shower. This particular ...

Advantages: smells good, works well Disadvantages: smells good...but not for long
...by the day...
Anyway, Original Lemon Source shower gel. We've all heard of the Original Source range - whether it be shower gel, face masks, moisturisers or shampoo, you'll find it all in this range. And their varieties are amazing too - all incredibly fruity, authentic smelling, and do their job well. So why is this any different?
In my 250ml bottle, I have a mass of bright yellow shower gel. Well, it's supposed to be lemon scented, so I guess ... ...back of the bottle the Original Source story is told...sounds like a load of rubbish to me, but I guess it makes interesting reading if you're sitting and soaking in the bath. We're also given a list of 'ingredients' - I'm not going to list them all, I'll just say that the shower gel does contain natural lemon oil and tea tree oil - it's not artificial.
This shower gel is designed for normal or oil prone skin - hence the addition of the tea tree ...

Advantages: smells lovely, cheap Disadvantages: loofah particles are useless
of the premium brands available.
I was expecting the loofah particles to be quite rough against my skin, but in actual fact they are so small, not to mention few and far between, that you can't actually feel them against your skin. I had also expected that the showergel would be exfoliating because of the loofah, but unfortunately it didn't seem to have any effect whatsoever, which I found quite disappointing.
The fragrance of this showergel is gorgeous. It has a strong citrus fragrance, which, while strong enough that I can still smell it despite having a cold, is not overpowering. It also somehow manages to be fairly delicate, despite being citrussy, unlike, for example OriginalSourcelemon and teatreeshowergel, which is very sharp. It does remind me of summer, there's something about it that just reminds me of the beach!

a lather, then leave it for a up to a minute and you will feel a tingly, cooling and very refreshing sensation all over your skull. When I first used the product I didn't know this was supposed to happen and thought my skin was reacting badly, but in a quite pleasant, non burning kind of way (it's very hard to describe) after reading the bottle my fears were allayed. As for getting it in your eyes it didn't sting at all, it just made my eye cold.
I didn't need to use conditioner and I was left soft, clean, shiny hair and after using the shampoo for a while I'm still getting the same results.
Originalsource also makes: conditioner; Bath foam; Shower and shaving gels and perfume, in mint, orange, lemon and also teatree. I have yet to try them.

and its healing properties.
The OriginalSource range uses many natural ingredients and the TeaTree and Lavender Body Wash is no exception, the sachet claims 'It's the essential oils that make the difference' -and they do. The natural oils in this mean the difference between this top notch product and its failing competitors.
A very good product which I advise you try. A relatively cheap product which does the job twice as well as other products twice the price.
I will definately look out for this!
