From time to time man needs to have a change to his shaving habits to ensure that he is getting ‘the best a man can get!’
I recently reviewed the Lynx Triple Blade razor and that is when I thought I had found the ultimate in shaving, I am still happy with the razor but have now found the perfect partner for an even better shave.
It is from Original Mint Source and from all the opinions on the site on the shower gels and shampoos; I know you all know this company well.
Original Source goes back to the 1850’s when an Australian Elizabeth Wakeman disgraced her missionary family by running away during the great Australian gold rush. Stories of time say that Elizabeth managed to persuade a barber to take her on as his apprentice, during this time she did not only learn how to shave and pull teeth, Elizabeth began to discover the healing powers of the plants that grew in the Outback and soon became famous for her herbal cures.
The Original Mint Source today uses many of the same ingredients in their products as Elizabeth did over 150 years ago.
Now I have used many products from their range and had never tried a facial product and decided to give this a bash just for a change from the usual Gillette shaving foam that I have used for the last few years!
There was only thing hampering me from making the final decision and that was the fact that it was a gel rather than foam, I have always found that if I use a gel that I break out in spots.
The packaging was convincing enough o help me get over that besides Tea Tree Oil is used to combat spots is it not! So into the trolley with one can of shaving gel.
Ingredients ~
There are lots of different ingredients in this product but I will not go into the great detail on that like I usually do I will stick to the two main ingredients that makes this a great product to use!
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia) ~
This is one of the first of the essential oils that makes this a totally unique shaving experience. This is a natural antiseptic and helps you achieve a really close shave while you and your mind are fully relaxed.
Peppermint Oil (Mentha Arvensis) ~
Peppermint oil is added to provide a refreshing feel to your shave, with it’s stimulating and reviving abilities you are sure to have one of the best shaves you are likely to have and with it’s natural coolants it is unlikely you will be left with the usual razor rash!
How Much ~
Mint source fans can pick a 200ml can of this stuff up at any chemist or supermarket for a nice little sum of £2.99 and for those weekends away you can also pick up the new 100ml travel size for £1.49, I know that compared to other shaving gels that it may seem expensive but it is well worth it I think.
What do people have to say? ~
This product has been tried and tested by some of the biggest glossy mags out there, from FHM to Cosmopolitan. This shaving Gel is not only seen as a gel for men it is considered to be unisex, so ladies this op is for you to, can you imagine a shave of your legs that is so refreshing you could go on forever! Cosmopolitan loves it and thinks it also looks great in the bathroom?
Ok so Squidget what is the shave like? ~
OK well I am sure you will all know by now that I like to try and be fair about testing new products, so I thought about how I was going to test this one! It would have been difficult to shave either side of my face with different gels. I seriously considered doing the legs one with a different type of gel to see how I got on! But I like my hairy legs too much.
So it was the simple option of shave with one gel one day and the next for the next shave and so on! Mint Source was up first after winning a toss of the coin and preparation was underway for the first shave.
Letting my stubble grow for a whole weekend I began to prepare a nice hot bath last night and prepare for a really relaxing time! In with the lavender oil to prepare me for a good night sleep and I lit the candles bluebell also to help you sleep!
After doing all the necessary bits and bobs it was time to relax in the bath and begin with the shave. I washed face with warm water as instructed and prepared the gel. Dosing a small amount into the palm of my hand I massaged it into a rather rich lather, which was more than enough to cover my face where I was shaving.
Instantly I could smell the aroma of mint that was indeed very refreshing and revitalising to say the least. Once applied to the skin I felt an instant cooling as if my pores all decided to through their doors open and let the wind blow through my skin.
The feeling was amazing and I lay in the bath and just let the foam work it’s magical therapies on my skin and my stubble!
After a few moments I decided to let the razor get to work and what a brilliant feeling it was. Never have I had a shave that when you take a swipe that the area is left feeling cool and closely shaved. I found that I was able to concentrate on the one area for shaving without any irritation.
The final result was a close shave with a razor that had been used several times and a foam that gives an exhilarating experience, now I went in to the bath to have a relaxing time and after this shave I did feel relaxed, however, I felt more awake than before I went into my bath, so the lavender and bluebell where a waste of time then? Not at all, I found that with the refreshing effects from the gel I was able to clear my mind and had a truly peaceful sleep.
Now the final stages of the test will not be carried out to ensure that this test is fair, as I have decided to stick with this new shaving gel and will be buying it again in the future. I am able to make this decision fairly due to the fact that I have used my other shaving foam for many years and have never experienced the sensations you do with Original Mint source.
A winner with me and if you are looking for more info on this product and more from the Mint Source range visit their website at www.originalsource.co.uk and you can even register with the site and receive free samples if you live in the UK.
Advantages: It smells nice and does the job Disadvantages: My leg went cold!!!!
Wow I must be feeling at home with you lot to talk to you about my shaving habits!!
I'm not a hairy creature, but as a female, every now and then I do need some.. what's the word? Preening!
Anyway, being the stingy mucker I am (why pay £2 when you can get it for £1.99!!) I bought this from Poundland in Wrexham (I think I'll write a review about that little gem later....) for a nifty £1. Usually these sell for approx £2.99, so I was suitably chuffed!
... ...all being competitve, it was an all out war of who can be the sexiest! So smooth legs essential.
So I settled down for a bath, glass of wine in one hand (yes whilst shaving I drink wine - find it numbs the pain when I end up tearing my skin off my leg) and a razor in the other, I set about preparing my pins (ok ok tree trunks!) A bit of exfoilating and whatnot, before getting onto the mouse bit.
Now let me warn you now - all you need is an incy ...

Advantages: Minty, no irritation Disadvantages: Cold
Having tried and loved Original Source shower gels I was tempted by this shaving gel on offer in Asda. I think I paid £2 for a 200 ml can of it, which was cheaper than the other shaving gels available. Packaging: The can is quite attractive in my opinion. It?s a nice green colour, getting lighter at the top with a transparent pale green plastic lid that you can see the nozzle through. It would go really nice in my boyfriend's bathroom, which has ... ...love the smell of the Original Source Tea Tree & Mint shower gel so I was not disappointed by the smell of this product. It smells a bit like Softmints to me, a sweet yet strong aroma. If you don't like mint you won't like this product. Performance: Warning! A little of this shaving gel goes a long way. I am prone to squirting too much and end up covered in the stuff. I would recommend pressing lightly to avoid having enough gel to shave a Gorilla! ...

Advantages: It smells mmm mmm good Disadvantages: None that i've found so far
Well after receiving the Original Mint Source shave gel for Christmas, I felt I just had to do a review. I was given the Tea Tree & Mint flavour and was assured by a certain family member that it was because it is especially designed for sensitive skin and not that I’m hairy at all (harrumph). Well am I glad I did get it. Not only does it feel silky smooth, but leaves your body smelling absolutely divine, though I do say so myself.
The gel comes ... ...short insight into how the Original Source range of products came about. How nice a little bath time reading to help you relax.
Anyway onto the actual experience, yes folks it’s story time again, everybody take their seats please, no shoving now there’s plenty of room for everyone, are we all sitting comfortably? Good, then I shall begin - ======================================

...that have read my other Original Mint Source opinions, you will have perhaps worked out that I have become addicted to them, so I am always on the look out for new Original Source Mint products. That’s when I came across Original Mint Source Tea Tree & Mint Shave Gel. I had been on the lookout for a good shaving foam for a while now and decided to have a quick peek on the Original Source website to see if there was such a thing as a shaving ... ...word, as do the other Original Source products. Your experience with this shaving foam can only be described as ‘A zingy never felt before experience for the most refreshing and stimulating shave you have ever had’
The one I brought came in a 200ml can for £2.99 but you can also buy a 100ml can for £1.49 from Tesco, Boots, Superdrug or Morrisons. As you can see you are much more likely to find a 200ml can than a 100ml can. The 100ml ...

Advantages: Smells lovely, works well, perfect Disadvantages: Like I said, other people stealing it!
...with the minty goodness of Original Mint Source. The shampoo, the shower gel and the conditioner are all absolutely gorgeous smelling! So when I saw the shavig gel I knew I had to have it! I admit I don't usually use a shaving gel or foam as I have sensitive skin, so it can irriate it, so I usually just use my shower gel as I know it won't bring me out in a rash! Plus I only shave my legs once every 4 years anyway! Well, I mean I don't bother shaving ... ...razor have to cope with a couple of days of stubble!! And to any blokes thinking "eeeeeewwww" then I'd just like to add that if you'd expect a girl to kiss you with prickly stubble or even a beard all over your face, you can put up with a bit of leg-fluff!!! So ner!
So, um, yeah....I suppose I bought this for the smell and the fact that love it, and all their products are really natural (in today's chemical obsessed world they are anyway!) I think ...

Advantages: Leaves you clean and VERY refreshed Disadvantages: Can sting the wrong bits... 'nuff said!
"That shower gel," a friend staying with us recently said to me. "It's got a bit of a sting, hasn't it?"
I laughed. "Depends where you use it, mate," I answered.
He simply raised his eyebrows at me. "On your nads, mate, on your nads! It was almost like it burned!"
Welcome, then, to the OriginalSource range of products, and more specifically to their TeaTree & Mint shower gel. I've long been a fan of the OriginalSource range, the shower gels, shavegels, bath foams, face washes... the list is endless.
You'll find OriginalSource products in just about all your local supplies stores these days, though when I first came along them they almost seemed exclusive. Visiting OriginalSource's website today - originalsource co uk - I noticed that their range has grown considerably, but if you look at the shower rack in my ...
a lather, then leave it for a up to a minute and you will feel a tingly, cooling and very refreshing sensation all over your skull. When I first used the product I didn't know this was supposed to happen and thought my skin was reacting badly, but in a quite pleasant, non burning kind of way (it's very hard to describe) after reading the bottle my fears were allayed. As for getting it in your eyes it didn't sting at all, it just made my eye cold.
I didn't need to use conditioner and I was left soft, clean, shiny hair and after using the shampoo for a while I'm still getting the same results.
Originalsource also makes: conditioner; Bath foam; Shower and shavinggels and perfume, in mint, orange, lemon and also teatree. I have yet to try them.

Advantages: Smells good Disadvantages: Lyla is allergic to it
myself all day) I felt nice an clean afterwards and decidedly fruity, my skin felt nice and soft too.
It is made from natural oils although the number of ingredients on the back ending ?oxide? make me think its made of a lot of other things too, I would therefore recommend doing a skin test before you use it if you tend to be sensitive to toiletries.
Its it not tested on animals.
The bottle lasted me about a month using it on a plastic body scrub, five or six times a week (my boyfriend didn?t use it as he thinks men should not smell of fruit) which I think is pretty good. It may not last as long using other forms of application or if you like to slather it on.
