Advantages Zaps spots quicker than anything else I've tried!

Disadvantages Unusual (but not unpleasant) smell

Whoever said that you will eventually "grow out" of spots was clearly lying!

OK……… so I don't have the same amount that I did during my teens but still get the odd breakout (especially after the odd late night or two).

I first discovered Origins at my local John Lewis store (see my review on "Out of Trouble" mask). The staff are very friendly and the company don't use any nasty chemicals in their products as it's all organic!

The basis of their products is really updating old fashioned remedies (that your grandmother probably talks about). On the Spot (all of their products have great names) comes in a small 10 ml clear pot with screw cap lid. At £8.50 this seems poor value for money …that is…until you try it!

The product is a clear gel and boy does it pack a punch. I know this will sound cheesy - but it tackles even the toughest spots.

The first time I tried it, I noticed the smell. This was because the product contains cloves, oregano and salicylic scid. The smell is not unpleasant but is noticeable (if you're going out for the evening - wait until you get home to use the product).

To use the gel simply dab onto the area (although the instructions suggest using a cotton bud, clean hands work just as well and saves you wasting the product).

Once applied the gel dries very quickly forming a clear layer over the skin. The ingredients work immediately, as there is a "tightening" effect once it dries.

After just one night's use I noticed a difference. The spot hadn't gone completely, but the redness had and the inflammation were greatly reduced. Another 2 days of use and you'd never know the spot had been there!

BUT….a word of caution, once the spot inflammation is reduced, be careful. The ingredients in the product are designed to dry out the spot and will do the same to your skin if you over-use it! My advice is that once the inflammation has been zapped, use a moisturiser (see my review on Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream) to get rid of the red mark that's left.

The key to using this product is to know when to stop!

Overall, another fab product from Origins which does what it says on the packet.

"Does it last?" I hear you say…the answer is yes. I replace this about every 4 months or so - so a little goes a long way.

I used it for nearly 2 years and haven't found any spot treatment which works better!

Next time you reach for an off the shelf product in Boots costing £4.99 - consider that for a few pounds more, you'll probably get better results in half the time by using On the Spot!

Never tried any products from Origins before, have found the best (yet most expensive) spot treatment product is Clinique's anti blemish gel - lasts for years though! Lucie xxx
