My Orion is HD ready (High Definition) I find, when watching the football the screen looks more innovative, a lot sharper, the commentary is very realistically sound, and the colour is beautiful.
On watching films:
When I?m watching a movie, it feels like being at a cinema, the sound is so effective. I watch a film the other night on DVD, I?ve seen it about 3 times now, and it?s called Captivity starring Elisha Cuthbert and Daniel Gillies. There are a lot of dark scenes in this one; it was all to do with kidnapping and torture. The dark scenes are amazingly effective to look at, I sometimes feel like I?m actually there. arrow buttons, is a larger 'Enter' button. If you find a programme you'd rather watch on another channel, you simply toggle to it using your up and down buttons, and press the 'Enter' button and it takes you there.
~ The picture size button. You have a choice of picture sizes which are either 4:3, Full screen, 14:9, 16:9 or cinema. Our preference is 16:9, which is basically just the 4:3 but enlarged. You should really try them all until you find the one you're most comfortable with. Basically, they're all based on the 4:3 size, but distorted to some extent.
Naturally, there's also volume up and down buttons, together with the 10 channel buttons and four coloured buttons, which can be used with interactive broadcasts on Freeview channels.
Also, I should point out that the buttons on the remote glow slightly in the dark. This is good ...

The DVD comprises of similar functions to the VCR but it it's not a recordable player, you also have your chapter search, zoom which is great if you want to see a close up of the action! You can view your DVDs in letterbox format (on a conventional shape TV, black bands will appear at the top and bottom of the screen) normal format and wide screen!
The Orion DVC6001 gets my vote as one of the best combi's on the market!!!!!!!!!!! When the time comes to replace your existing equipment make this product your number one choice as I have been very happy with this product and hope that you'll be too!!!
