Well as far as the listed side effects...then yes this little blue bombshell does exactly what it says on the packet!!!! I was given xenicol by a fertility docotr along with metformin for a condition known as Polycystic ovary syndrome. This is an ever increasing reason for female infertility and these 2 drugs seem to be the perscription of the moment by most doctors to combat it. I will write about just the xenicol although the metformin in my my case also list bowel disfunction as a side effect so my personal experience may be a little more exaggerated.
I have been taking the drugs for 2 months now. At first because I eat a low fat diet anyway and had lost over 2 stone I felt a little annoyed and being given the 'diet'pill as I thought I was doing fine on my own to be honest. But I took them from the chemist and thought I would not bother to take them. However after about 3 weeks, I really fancied a burger from the the place with the golden M's ( don't want to advertise) so thought Oh well they stop fat so it would only be like having 2/3rd's of a Mc something. After that I am afraid I got hooked. Anything once examined for calorie and fat content if it contained over 5 grms of fat it was only consumed with a little blue bomb to make it only 2/3rd s as naughty. I only take 2 tablets a day but choose carefully with what I take them with. For example I may eat a huge meal of just salad and fish which contain no fat, but then really fancy a chocolate bar which is loaded with fat and take a tablet with that. You really have to look at the make up of what you eat not the quantity...sometimes a couple of biscuits can be more than you're proper meal.
basically this tablet has allowed me to have cheats on my very strict diet and it not be so bad to take. I have lost over a stone so far. The orange oil staining in general doesn't effect me only on the rare occassion, but I really think its how much fat you have in your diet to start off with. I have had one severe case of the 'run to the loo or have knickers that look like you sat in the chip pan' episode, but that was after going away for a weekend and basically eating everything I liked including chips, pizza, burger, steak and apple crumble and custard over a weekend. But in general if you stick to low fat, concentrate on taking the tablet with the food that you think is the most fat laden each day you can't go wrong with this drug. I wouldn't want to take this for more than about 6-12, and I am looking forward to the day when I actually have to sit and wait to go to the loo, rather than just manage to get there in time, drop 'em and it all 'pour' out ( sorry but say it how it is) Good luck to anyone who takes it, and stick with it. And remember sometimes the side effects don't kick in for a week or so so don't think you are the exception...the toilet runs are part of the course to the slimmer you so grab your extra loo rolls and wait.

I wasn;t quite sure what the pill was supposed to do. It baffled me. But never mind. At least you are participating in this little community. Keep writing and I will keep reading. Rachel
