Advantages: lighweight, slimline, durable, reasonable cheap, very good quality. Disadvantages: lightweight, slimline, some Djs do prefer bigger and heavier cartridges and styluses.
...As a Hip Hop Dj for over 10 years I have always used Ortofon, personally I think they make the best cartridges and styluses, because they are slimline, it makes it easier to find particular grooves on records, especially when trying to find a groove quickly not just cueing.
Other cartridges are a lot more bulkier, which can make it hard to see exactly where you are putting the stylus.
I am definitley buying the Q-Bert Stylus though, The last set of Ortofon styluses I bought was in 2005. A pair for teaching at youth clubs (so they are robust!!!) and a pair for home and club use. They can last a long time. On the reaI though. I do have only one stylus left though.
Due to me being RECKLESS....

Advantages: Cheap, rock solid, loverly finishes, great hardware Disadvantages: need car to move around, neighbours! not to much of an image boost
.... Where as with the wraped exports, it would just bounce off.
With the bass drum i have cut 2 holes in the resonant head and have no packing in it what so ever, and its a beast! Super loud and a mega low thud that you can feel deep inside your chest.
Very nice.
And my snare is a little bit special to. I read on the internet that 'vented' snares are louder and more responsive.
All it is is just a normal snare with loads of holes in the shell. So with the help of a friend and a drill, 4 3" holes now grace the shell. This makes it super loud with a really high 'crack' type sound and matches the bass drum superbly.
The toms have been tuned so the 12 produces a almost timbale like ringing tone. The floor tom is tuned really low and when mic'd up sounds like some ones rippin off you head!
The hi-hat stand is superb. Giving loads of adjustment...
