Advantages Advantages As good as the Psion 5, cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly smaller screen than the Psion 5

As palm computers/PDAs go, the Osaris is cheap. It retails at around £150, whereas its nearest rival, the Psion 5, is nearer £400. So what's the difference? Surprisingly, not much. The Osaris is basically a very good clone of the Psion 5. If you are unfamiliar with palms/PDAs, they are little computers. Some don’t have keyboards and used with a stylus pen (you write on the screen). This one does have a keyboard, and you can type directly into it. There are electronic organisers out there for around £20, but I’m not talking about those here. What I am talking about is a powerful ... more

    5 Stars A great PDA 10/10/2001

Advantages Advantages Small, light, and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen sometimes hard to see

The Osaris is a PDA, made by the company Oregon Scientific. For those of you who don’t know what a PDA is, it stands for personal digital assistant. And that is exactly what the Osaris is. There are many different programs available on the Osaris, such as word processor, spreadsheet, database and a diary. You can even use email and Internet with the right equipment. This machine is capable of running any software written for it, and if you have the knowledge of using it programming software you could even write you very own programs! But if like me you know nothing, then you can always ... more

Advantages Advantages Battery indicator, compact, comes with software to sync with PC.

Disadvantages Disadvantages No power adaptor (need to buy seperatly). The size of the keyboard takes a bit of getting used to.

I purchased this PDA (personal digital assistant) in July 2000. It cost me £199.99 then, and now retails for around £150.00. It functions very similar to the Psion Revo, although that costs almost £100 more! It has a variety of different pre-installed programs that can be used effectively through using it’s miniature QWERTY keyboard and stylus, that can be used to point on the screen and function similar to a mouse (point and click style). The programs included on this PDA are as follows: >Sheet – A spreadsheet program, allowing most basic functions including cell referencing ... more

Advantages Advantages we bought ours half price! mini pc, touch pen screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive unless you intend to use it well

We bought one of these for half price in the Tescp Direct half price sale and got it for just £99! It was a great buy! It has an 8mg memory, compatible with wondows and macintosh and it has a word processor, spreadsheet , database and email program on it that you can use with an add-on modem you can buy. It comes with PC link cables and a touch sensitive screen with pen. You can still buy them in the various mail order catalogues but they seem to be about £200 mostly now... Well worth it though! ... more
