Pontian Sunfire- A one year car
Advantages: Sporty 2.4L Twin Cam engine at 150HP Disadvantages: Depcreciates quickly, Good Dealership warranty suggested
...a short time? Pontiac Sunfire is your answer. It will be a sporty ride at 150HP and a very quick 2.4L twin cam engine. Prices are usually quite affordable in fact probably the best bang for the buck in terms of speed and sportyness.
Keep in mind you are buying an American Car. It will depreciate. In fact the sunfire is predicted to depreciate and be worth 25% of it price in 5 years of purchase.
Hot colours? Try the jet black. After a good wash ...

Good car but don't buy
Advantages: Great on gas, good pickup, reliable Disadvantages: Faulty engine parts, damn GM!
To those of you that do not buy GM products, as much as they always give you reasons to buy them, just don't stay away from GM.
Now this car is roomy, reliable, good on gas, cheap to insure and is fairly easy to maintain. It has a good deal of beef inside it especially if you own an SE model like I do.
The engine has a great deal of get up and go and the car has great handling on everything, I even drove it through all three of the horrible ice ... ...However as a GM product it has it's dark side, that being the crappy workmanship. This car has manifold gasket problems due to DEXcool antifreeze put in at the assembly line. Also there's tendancy to have the rotors warp, and also prone to alternator problems though I am only suffering the first two.
The biggest problem with the gasket problem is one the parts are expensive as GM has made it so you need to buy special bolts that are one use only ...

Solid American Muscle
Advantages: good fuel economy, high performance, sporty looks, and infinite buying options Disadvantages: speeding tickets
Puchased a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP edition just over a year ago ( April 2008). As a previous owner of a Ford F150 pickup and a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 I had managed my share of fuel hungry workhorses. Initial goals when i made the purchase included higher engine performance, greater gas mileage, and a sporty look which i found in no short supply with the Grand Prix. Under normal circumstances i average 20 mpg town driving, and an easy 25 to 30 on the ... ...on flat trips). The supercharged 3800 V6 which comes stock on my GTP edition (the stock model comes with the standard 3800) is a road rocket, and i mean a top end speed nearing 155 ( i've done it) and a 0-6 in excess of any car within its price range. My model is a 2 door coupe and with the edition of some low profile wheels and tires maintains a sporty look that just looks mean in all black. The insides are incredibly spacious and provide ample ...

Firebird Converible: FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
Advantages: Power, style, and so very FUN to drive! Disadvantages: Rear wheel drive makes snow and ice hazardous.
The Pontiac Firebird Convertible was a blast to drive and own! It's powerful accellerations, along with the top down, felt like a real luxury. This car is perfect for people who love the wind in their hair, and the open road. Best for places with warm weather year round, and not made to be a family car, the Firebird is perfect for one or two people in warm climates. It is also ideal as a second vehicle for any person or family. You should own a more ... ...for transporting more than 4 people. The back seat is small, so 4 in the car is not really comfortable. Best for a lone driver, or driver and one passenger. But again, if you already own a reliable all weather, larger vehicle, and are looking for a second, fun, sporty car, the Firebird Convertible is PERFECT! The Firebird's maintenance costs or lower than other sports convertibles. Examples: Camaro headlights cost me 25.00 each, Firebird headlights ...

This is the end, my friend.
Advantages: speed; looks; cost Disadvantages: interior; suspension
...What happened to Firebird? Well, Pontiac Grand AM and Prix went through a complete remodeling and a major add campaign. Firebird got an oil change.
The interior of the F-bodies are also to be blamed. Mainly the back-seats. I would say don't buy a sports car if you care about back-seats, but the f-body backseats are hideously designed. Its really hard to fit a regular size human in there. The gauge cluster sits a bit too low, and the instruments ... ...looks like plastic. The doors require a lot of space to open, and if you are a sucky paralel parker like me, you will have serious problems with this one. In any event, both cars are still kicking over 30 years after they got introduced to the world. Thes are both badly in need of change, but if they ever put them out of production we all have much to miss. GM says the Camaro name will live on. On what, I wonder? Will they built a family sedan and ...
