"Cute guys that like cute things"

First of all this series of book read from back to front like a traditional Japanese Manga, its from one of the top publishing companies that distributes in English and is a very good start for a first time manga reader.

The main character Asuka in the beginning comes across like the protagonist in the manga bleach as he is quiet and keeps to himself and doesnt have man friends to begin with. Though as the story progresses to the fifth volume we find out that he is keeping a deep dark secret.. and no its not that he hunts the dead its that he likes to sew and craft and bake which is typically frowned upon in Japanese culture. Gender roles are still very much decided and due to the fact that his father left home at an ealy age to become a transvestite his mother forbides anything girly in the house for fear of him doing the same.

After he meets a girl newly transferred to his class who he finds out is the opposite of himself he confides in her and some other classmates as he realises everyone has thier own issues to work through and as the series progresses he open up little by little.

This is a rather girly series aimed at the 13+ market but at 28 I can still relate to many of the characters. The artwork is similar to the daiske daisy or ouran host club series which are good places to go once you have finished reading this though I think its 18 volumes long at an average price of £6 or £6.99 so it could take a while to get there. (currently on vol7). Lots of exasperation and detail in the characters emotions and facial expressions and less attention paid to backgrounds.

The pacing is good and the dialogue is pretty light as with most girl aimed manga at the time this was published so you can run through them pretty quickly. The character development is gradual and new characters are introduced roughly every other volume too to keep it fresh.

Theres nothing really objectionable in this series, mostly light hearted comical antics about unusual teenagers trying to find love in thier high school years with lots of comical results and misconceptions about identity. Its something you can pick up anytime but takes than 30 minutes to reach each volume so if your on a long bus or train you would maybe need 4 volumes.

Overall I am enjoying it so far other series similar I would recomend would again be ouran host club, fruits basket and daiske Daisy as they have similar drawing styles and themes.
