Full review
Ok, perhaps I shouldn't, but I really like this game. The game, Overlord is reasonably addictive, but what makes this game special is the Goblins. For anybody that has seen any of the Gremlins movies, the Goblins in this game are much like those. Cheeky, pesky, critters that cuase mad mayhem and often have you chuckling away at the quips and line they come out with. In your home base, an evil tower, you even have your own Goblin jester that really sucks up to you, and you can beat him just for your own amusement.

Basically before your creation there was another overlord, but he was conquered and the tower detroyed. Now you take his place and you have to retrieve many essential items to re-build your tower. To do this you have to control four types of Goblins, i.e Brown ones are fighter, red ones have ranged attack and are impervious to fire. The domain is fairly linear but at least it makes it simple to navigate, and find the area of your next objective. Much of the scenery is destructible and adds fun to the game sending your Goblins to wreak havoc. The environments that you explore are pleasant, and quite good graphics, I f not a tad carttonish looking. However this actually adds to what is appealing about the game.

In addition the Overlord {You} get spells to cast both offensive and offensively. Watching halflings burn to death certainly brings a wee smile to the lips. The controls of the game and extremely simple.

Red button: Call back Goblins
Blue button: Cast spell
Green button: Melee attack
Yellow button: Order Goblins to stand at this spot.
Big grey button: Change spell
LS: Centre camera
RS:Change goblins colour
RT: Send Goblins to an area
Right Stick: Free move Goblins
Left Stick: Move Overlord

Dotted frequently over the land is pools that you summon your Goblins from, as well as portals to your Evil tower. This game is not the greatest to descend onto the X-box but my word is it simple fun. I think if it was not for the Goblins in this game I would not be so keen but the humour factor, is great, and you get to cause serious mayhem. A romp of a game. When my children saw me playing this game for the first time, they got very itchy fingers in anticipation of having a play. This game would appeal to kid's older or younger.
