Oxford Landing Cabernet Shiraz is produced by the Yalumba Wine Company at their vineyards alongside the famous Murray River. Here the soil is rich, the skies blue and the air clean and unpolluted whilst Yalumba is undeniably in the forefront of premium wine production in Australia. It is Australia's oldest family-owned winery having been established back in 1849 by Samuel Smith from Dorset,England. It has huge plantings of Shiraz, and Chardonnay,Cabernet, and Sauvignon Blanc.Today this group embraces some of the best known of Australian wines on the international market.

The Shiraz from Oxford Landing is widely available and I believe most of the larger supermarkets stock it as well as major off licences. This wine is vibrant, deep, crimson in colour whilst red berry and mint aromas on the nose are complexed with toasted vanilla and oak and some subtle herbal undertones. This popular wine is matured in Old American Oak Casks.

The palate is rather smooth and silky with some soft -rounded tannnins. Oak and fruit seem to have integrated very well to form this most pleasant medium-bodied wine from Aussie. Its alcohol by volume (ABV)content is 13 %'

Personally I think this is a great wine. It is smooth, I like the rich fruity taste and it is a good example of modern day wines from Australia. Indeed, I think it is very moorish.

It really is a superb accompaniment to a surprisingly wide range of foodstuffs. It goes hand-in-hand with Grilled Red Meat dishes such as sirloin steak, grilled lamb cutlets, Roast Shoulder of Lamb, Roast Topside of Beef, Beef Lasagne, and is enjoyable together with a nice big chunk of Cheddar Cheese and Cream Crackers. It is not very expensive, although I cant remember the exact price, and scores highly from its consistency and from the reputation for high quality associated with Oxford Landing wines.
