I've always had the type of skin that has breakouts now and again due to hormonal changes. In October, I had a hysterectomy and thought those old hormones were a thing of the past. Wrong!

I needed to have HRT. but didn't get it for 7 weeks for medical reasons. As a result, I was plunged into a permanent sweat, which was bad enough in itself. Then, to my horror, I developed a huge spot at the side of my nose - I just couldn't believe it! To go through all this and STILL get spots was just too cruel!

I think it happened because of the hormonal upet and also the sweating. So, I was desperate and needed something to reduce the inflammation. Needless to say, this thing erupted 4 days prior to Christmas.

I had a look in my local Home and Bargain and found these little patches called oxy dots which promised to help heal blemishes. They cost £2.72 for 24 patches which I thought was quite reasonable. The directions say to apply a patch to the affected area when you have washed your face and for best results to leave on overnight.

I made sure my face was clean and free of all grease as the patch would not stick if there were any cream on my skin. The patch was fiddly to remove from it's packaging as they are tiny, sort of spot sized. There is a definite knack to it, but once applied, stayed in place very well. As a bonus, the slightly opaque patch reduced the appearance of the redness which made me feel better!

This particular spot was painful and would not come to a head. I left the patch on overnight and it had drawn the spot by the morning without any painful sensations. In fact, I could not tell that the patch was there. I was very impressed with how quickly it had started to work and continued to apply a fresh patch every night for a week. The spot healed cleanly and without any dry skin around it, which I have found happens with other spot clearing products.

I also have 3 teenage sons who suffer the odd breakout and my middle one tried using a patch on a sore spot he had. Again, he had an excellent result with the use of one patch overnight.

I would highly recommend this product for large, painful spots as it really does work and definitely reduces the soreness associated with these horrible things. As a bonus, you can wear the patches during the day if you have a very unsightly sore which is making you self conscious as it does help to conceal the area in an unobtrusive way. These patches are not a substitute for thorough daily skin care and don't claim to be, but are a marvellous treatment for blemishes that happen despite all attempts to stop them erupting!
