A few years ago I tried the oxy face cleaning pads which were packed in a blue tub. I only used them occasionally and called them my oxyacetylene. This was because at the first sign of a spot, a quick wipe of the offending area with an oxy pad, and the spot was doomed. Spots just seemed to diminish and disappear quickly and easy after an Oxy treatment.
In recent years I have started to get the odd spot on my face again and I thought I would look out for a tub of Oxy pads however those on sale looked a little different. Well the packaging did. The Oxy pads I bought are still packed in a tub but a maroon coloured one and the product is actually called Oxy Wipeout Pads these days.
Would this new generation of Oxy do the trick and be as good as its predecessor?.
Well I am glad to say that the answer was yes.
To use you simply open the tub, peel of the top Oxy pad and use it to wipe your face and neck. The pads are moist. You can just spot wipe or give your whole face, and neck if desired, a good clean. You do not rinse your face afterwards but let the Oxy work its magic instead. I do not usually wear make up but I still find that these pads remove a whole lot of debris from my face. They will remove grease, grime, make-up or whatever I suppose. The after effect is a skin tightening feeling which is not unpleasant. It gives you the sense that you have cleaned and toned with an astringent all in one go.
These pads do smell a little strong and chemically. The tub states that this product is safe for all skins but I would say that a new user might be better just testing on a small area, before cleaning the whole of their face. Better safe than sorry.
The manufacturer recommends using twice a day for maximum results. However I think that even the occasional use is beneficial. I do find that at my age I need to apply moisturiser afterwards as my skin has a dry tendency these days. However even without doing this the Oxy Wipeout pads leave your skin feeling soft and clean.
I bought mine for £2.45 but you can pay a little more or less depending on the retailer. A tub contains 50 pads so, with the recommended use, it would last you 25 days. I guess nearly a month is quite good for the price.
Recommended, even if just for problem areas.
A note of caution though these pads are flammable. With this in mind keep the lid tightly in place and the cigarettes well away. This also prevents the pads drying out.
