Ozbozz Blue Cosmic Light Flashing Deck Scooter

My son is not wonderful with things such as riding a bike or a scooter and so even though he had been bought a two wheeled scooter a couple of Christmases ago he found it tricky to balance properly on it and so we ended up selling it as it just wasn’t being used. For his birthday though my son was keen on having another scooter and after a chat with one of my friends who has this scooter for her child I purchased the Ozbozz blue cosmic flashing light deck scooter.

The scooter comes packaged in a reasonably large cardboard box but it features a carry handle which makes it easier to carry which I was pleased about as we bought the scooter in a shopping centre and had to carry it back to the car! The box probably only weighs a few kilos but regardless of this fact the carry handle is a good feature which makes transportation easier.

Inside the box you have the scooter and instructions. I have to say that I was really quite worried about sorting the scooter out for my son and making it safe and playable for him because I am not particularly good with things like that. However, when I pulled the scooter out of the box I was pleased to see it was all ready made and just folded down so all I really needed to do was pop up the handle from the folded position and adjust it to the right height for him. Adjusting the height of the handlebars was very easy really and it has three different height settings to adjust with your child. I bought the scooter for my son for his sixth birthday but I would say children aged three plus could have a go with this so the adjustable handle is a good feature as it will mean the scooter can be used for a few years if you get it when your child is young.

The scooter looks much like a two wheeled scooter in width and appearance but at the back it has two wheels close together which just seem to give a little extra stability when the scooter is in use which is something that my son likes. The handle bars are covered in a soft blue spongey material which makes them comfortable to hold on to when using the scooter and to be honest it looks quite a comfortable and fun piece of equipment to use.

What my son particularly liked about this scooter was the fact that in the footplate there is a space to add four AA batteries which once inserted and switched on will make the footplate flash in various colours. At night time this is quite a nice touch and the colours really stand out but during the day you can’t really tell if the lights are on or not and so we tended to just leave them off. After a short while the cover for the battery compartment fell off and got lost and so now we just don’t bother with the batteries at all as we did find they used them quite quickly too. Whilst the lights are a nice idea it is quite gimmicky and something which soon loses its fun element.

I have noticed that my son can whizz around quite well on this scooter and doesn’t really have any issues which balance on it due to the extra wheel at the back. At the back of the scooter over the back wheels there is a foot break to press down to stop if needs be but to be honest he just seems to jump off it because I did tell him if he felt like he was losing control just to jump off if it was safe rather than try and get his foot on the brake. I am sure that given practice and confidence he will become more able to stop the scooter using the brake.
The scooter can be folded down when not in use by pushing up a clip and folding the handle down on to the foot plate. In all honesty I tend to just leave the scooter up at the moment as it is often taking outside for a bit by my son however in winter when he is less able to go out on the scooter I will certainly be folding it up and shoving it in to a small place to keep it hidden and out of the way!

I paid £24.99 for this scooter back in May but I have since noted amazon are selling it for £16.99 which is a good price I feel for a decent scooter which my son enjoys to use.
