Full review
Sue Crawford has captured the life and works of Ozzy Osbourne in this very interesting and encapsulating biography. If you would like to know more about Ozzy then this is book should be on you wish list if not your bookshelf.

The Author
==========
Sue Crawford is a professional author and journalist. She has written several other books. Search amazon.co.uk to see other titles by her. Sue has captured the true Ozzy in writing. Ozzy is a very loving father and husband and this book brings this to light, especially when his first daughter (Aimee) with wife Sharon was born.

The Book
========
Currently only published In hardback by Michael O’Mara books. (www.mombooks.com)
ISBN : 1854799991. It is priced at £14.99, but www.amazon.co.uk is selling it for £11.99 so shop around before you buy. Released for sale in August 2002.

The loose cover is black (would it be anything else) and has a facial picture of Ozzy wearing round blue-lens glasses with his typical intriguing but “not-quite-all-there” expression.

There are 32 pages of full colour photographs, some of which are rare and unusual. Also included at the back of the book are a full discography and chronology of Ozzy’s work throughout the many years of his career. For the avid fan there is a list of Ozzy’s tattoo’s. There is even a specially commissioned astrological chart!

Ozzy Himself
============
I don’t want to give too much away but I’ll try and intrigue you with some facts about Ozzy. Ozzy was born John Michael Osbourne on 3 December 1948 in Birmingham and was one of six children. The book documents how Ozzy became involved with Tony Iommi whilst at school, but not how Ozzy would have liked. Ozzy started his career in an abattoir but quickly got bored with it. However, it seems slaughtering animals stuck with him for a considerable number of years to come.

It was during Ozzy’s stay in prison where he got his first tattoo, “OZZY” across his knuckles, quickly followed by several others, including smiling faces on each knee. Why? Because Ozzy thinks knees are sad and therefore needed cheering up.

Two things that have plagued Ozzy throughout his adult life are alcohol and drugs. He has been into several rehabilitation clinics only to falter several months later. They nearly ruined his career and some say, if it was not for his second wife Sharon, he would not be here today. Sharon has played a major role in Ozzy’s life as well as his career.

Ozzy has be portrayed over the years as the evil, devil worshipping rocker, but this book shows how there is a very caring and loving person behind this. He is totally devoted to Sharon and their three children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack. Ozzy also has two children from his first marriage.

Of course, this book would not be complete without a mention the MTV’s “The Osbourne’s” which has been likened to a modern day Addams Family.

Conclusion
==========
If you want to learn about the life and career of this very talented man, then this is most certainly the book for you. It is full of interesting facts about Ozzy and I can guarantee you will be laughing throughout. I would recommend this to any Ozzy or Black Sabbath fan, but also to people who are just interested in reading biographies. It is certainly an eye-opener! I thoroughly enjoyed it and could not wait to read it. How would I sum this book up in one word? Fascinating.
