mackie SRM-350 Great quality speaker
Advantages: Excellent quality and very little if any background noise. Disadvantages: I would advise using a seperate bass speaker if these frequencies are being used.
The Mackie SRM-350 offers great quality sound, and performs excellently in live situations. I have used my set of these for many live situations, and the sound has always been absolutely brilliant. if you are looking for some good quality speakers at reasonable price these are what you want. as a single speaker this could be used to expand your's existing PA, or be used to monitor mono mixes. Weather in a live situation or being used just to monitor ...

Peavey Heavyweights
Advantages: Audio Quality Disadvantages: They are heavy!
I have already reviewed the Peavey PRO-12 speakers, which, for all purposes are the little brothers of these, the Peavey PRO-15. I will do my best not to make this review a comparison piece but I will apologise in advance if, at times, it seems I am compariong the two. As with all Peavey products, these are high quality in build, design and audio output. The speaker cabinet is protected by strong black carpet, something which seems to be the norm ... ...to the plastic handles which Peavey have thoughtfully built in to either side of the speaker cabinet. The audio inputs on the speakers come in the form of two quarter inch jacks or two speakon connector inputs. Performance wise, these are great. You get excellent clarity and the music goes very loud indeed. The Pro-15s give you 300 watts rms output which is fairly impressive for this price range (you can get a pair of these for between £250 to £300 ...

Peavey For The Win!
Advantages: Great sounding, medium size Disadvantages: n/a
...PA speakers to invest in, Peavey were the ones that everyone I know seemed to recommend. I tried out a few pairs (which I will review on here in time) but these are the ones I bought so I will start with these. The Pro-12 is from Peavey's 'Messenger Pro' range of speakers and, as speakers go, they are pretty good to look at. They are not massive and, according to the manual, they are 22.6" high, 16.3" wide and 14" deep. I won't argue with that. They ... ...and comfortable handles on both sides of the speaker unit. I wouldn't like to carry them very far as they are quite heavy. Its quite easy to get them mounted onto speakers stands which is something that I think is very very important. The speaker unit is covered in the black carpet material that seems to be standard with most PA speakers, it feels quite soft and offers some protection to the everyday wear and tear that they are bound to face. I've ...

JBL Bass Rumblers
Advantages: Good bass frequencies Disadvantages: N/A
BL are famous for their quality speakers and users of their products won't be surprised to discover that this self-powered subwoofer is excellent. Weighing in at 500 Watts (at peak) and 300 Watts (RMS) this is a hefty piece of kit which provides excellent sound quality and a proper booming bass. I reall;y wish I could say that I own a pair of these babies but I don't. I've borrowed a friends set a few times and have been blown away with them. I really ... ...I can find them for is just under £500 (maybe I should start saving). They are really easy to set up, with two XLR inputs or one 1/4 inch jack input. They also have two XLR outputs if you need to wire them up in a 'chain' of speakers (which is easy enough to do if you know what you are doing). These badboys are not massive but they weight a fair bit, I've never actually weighed them but a bit of internet investigation shows that they weigh in at ...
