Advantages: market leader, most clubs use these, easy to use Disadvantages: parts are quite expensive
...Technics are the most sought after and popular decks on the market, closely followed by vestax. however although vestax are a cracking set of decks, almost every d.j. will notice that most venues are sticking by there guns and leaving technics in the clubs. i think the main reason is that they have always been reliable and are very hard wearing. All though i am not very technically minded, I know that technics do pretty much everything that i need them to. Which is a all a busy d.j. needs. the residual value on these decks is briliant, and they could never be blamed as a bad buy. I know that if mine ever got stolen or lost, i would not hesitate in buying exactly the same decks again. there would be no need to upgrade. (so the Vestax can spin backward at the touch of a button), so what. Dont delay, buy today. you wont be sorry....

...you need to use if you want to take advantage of the key lock feature.
I have not been anything other than amazed with these decks. The build quality is fantastic, they look amazing, and are packed with features. They are built to a very high standard and I get the impression that it would take a lot to bust them. The blue lighting makes them look the business in the dark, and even switched off they look mean. Believe it or not I have also found my mixing skills to have improved since using them. This is due to the higher torque of the motor, and having a much more precise pitch control fader. Being able to see on the lcd screen what effect the little adjustment you made has makes a world of difference.
If you DJ then I fully recommend you to get these. What about the good old Technics? I personally think these look better, they have...

Advantages: Very easy to use. The first step towards the new digital age of DJing. Disadvantages: Technical support is very unhelpful.
...Pod playlists, an invaluable addition since the databasing software's playlist creation features are VERY limited. One thing I have noticed however, is that when reading off an iPod as opposed to a regular MSD the respose time in terms of loading up tracks is slightly longer, nothing terrible, but the experienced DJ may find this annoying.
The only real criticism I have is not for the HDC-1000 itself, but for Cortex as a company. The one time I had to email technical support because of a bug I discovered they were VERY unhelpful. They took a long time to respond (sometimes up to 3 weeks) and when they did they very rarely offered solutions, just more and more of the same questions. Eventually I found that the Cortex website's free forum is a much better place to get support.
I have now used my HDC-1000 at about 20 gigs and it has honestly...
