PC Direct

PC Direct magazine, I feel, has too many personal opinions which tend to go off the subject (e.g. in Septembers issue, the editor starts off about poor customer services in the computer industry and then gives a totally irrelevant example about her COUNCIL TAX PROBLEM!) The news articles are OK, there are not too many adverts but the adverts they do have are mainly for complete systems rather than components. The cover disks usually contain one or two full products (I've noticed that the full programs do the rounds of different computer mags!) This magazine would suit an academical reader. ... more

PC Direct (from VNU Business Publications) is a magazine that has recently undergone an overhaul in presentational and editorial style. As such, I was invited to join their reader panel, and have received my first edition and questionnaire asking me what I think. PC direct is a very good magazine for those people who are very interested in the latest technologies in computing and those who have a sound knowledge of computers. PC direct is a very popular magazine and I fell that it is made extra popular because of the free software the magazine offers each to time you buy the magazine. PC Direct is the upmarket version of Micro Computer Mart which means that if you're on the look out for a few peripherals for your creaking old PC, or you're after a brand new system, then it's a jolly good place to look before you buy. The magazine is largely taken up by advertising, bu there are often some lengthy review features that benchtest systems supplied to the magazine by their advertisers.
