A good idea, poorly executed.

Advantages: Great concept, stunning graphics, amazing atmosphere, good score.
Disadvantages: Unrealistic combat, VAT system poorly executed, little variation in graphical themes.

Fallout 1 and 2, both of which were turn-based tactical RPGs, of similar style to the Jagged Alliance and X-com games of around the same era were more than ideal for a format overhaul. Drak Messiah, all the swords and magic you dreamed of

Advantages: Never ending action and choices
Disadvantages: Can be difficult and frustrating

I really loved this game even before I played it, just the thought of decapitating orcs or slaying cyclops.
