IBM's "Premium" Flatpanels

Advantages: Flatpanel : take up little space. Great quality sound.
Disadvantages: Simplistic design, slightly flimsy. Lack of volume/treble/bass switches. Expensive.

...I caught sight of the IBM multimedia speaker box. The first thing I noticed was the pricetag, a rather hefty 59.99 pounds. I'm no pro regarding speaker specs, but a quick scan of the back of the box convinced me of their superiority over the lesser models I'd bought previously. In particular I was impressed by the speakers range, being able to reach 16,000 hertz (close to the boundary of human hearing). And the strong 80db noise level. I was convinced, ...
...I'd like to make clear the fact these speakers are awfully expensive for what they offer, hence the 3 star rating. However, if you do seek extremely high quality sound to compliment a powerful system then by all means purchase the IBM Multimedia speakers. Perhaps after a price fall though! ...

Surprisingly accurate amp/speaker combination

Advantages: Great sound, transparent and dynamic , extended bass, plays quite loud, classy looks
Disadvantages: Sensitive to room placement, a little hum and hiss.

Brought these last Christmas as a gift for someone but the packaging box arrived damaged so I thought I’d try them out to ensure they were OK (any excuse!). A few weeks later, I set them up for the other person so I’ve listened to them in two very different systems and rooms over the past year. I don’t think there’s any point in me commenting on aspects you can find out about elsewhere so I’ll try to concentrate on build & sound quality, versatility ...
...compare build quality to decent European hi-fi (rather than cheap computer speakers), I’d say the build quality was adequate but not great although finish of both the satellites and bass box is excellent. Satellite cabinets are made of lightweight plastic. They are shallow (front to back) and not the most stable but they look good. The bass box carcass seems to be made of thin wood and the wireless remote control looks insubstantial and vulnerable. ...

Funky speakers, with a MASSIVE sound!

Advantages: Good to look at/ Good sound quality
Disadvantages: Huge ammounts of bass

I will start with one of my one and only negative of this product. After opening the box and testing them, one of the speakers didn't work so I had to return them and buy a new set. Despite of this, these speakers are EXCELLENT! They are amazing to look at, and look like they cost a lot of money (which they do, around £60) but they are worth every single penny. I asked for these speakers as a present for my birthday and i am very glad i picked then. ...
...to computers and to TVs and one that is meant for mp3 players or phones. You can also connect headphones directly to the speakers. The sound quality is great! You can adjust volume, bass and treble, although i would recommend keeping the bass turned down if you are living with other people, because even with the bass turned down to nothing, there is still a reasonable ammount. The sound is great, and every song is really clear so if you want a really ...

Looks yes, feels no

Advantages: Looks, nothing else
Disadvantages: Mostly, except looks

...and is the trend with Creative the Creative Inspire 500A does not deviate from the expectations. Beside the flash and pomp of its look the price tag is absolutely unjustified. Paying £35 (inc VAT) for this system is totally uncalled for. That is paying too much for jazzy and frivolous looks. The performance of the system is abysmal; it is a good show-piece in your drawing room. I really wonder why Creative, having created a good niche for themselves ...
...the store is stuffed with Creative Inspire 500A. Such trendy looks, but that’s all it has to it. The performance is poor and that is to say the least. SET UP: Good thinking on Creative’s part, no hi fi stuff. It’s simple, just plug in the wires at the right places. You end up with a mess of wires, and there she stands proudly promises you of great music. A solitary volume control knob is situated at the back of the wired remote. There is no ...

nice to look at

Advantages: sleek design, good volume
Disadvantages: hard to figure out

I purchased this product thinking "oh, these are going to be amazing" because they looked the part. Yes i think that they have got the design right, they look slick but unfortunately thats the best part. you see this is a 5.1 system and my computer will accept upto 8.1 but for some reason only two of these speakers work at a time??? what was the point in me upgrading from my original 2.1 speakers? aside from that they do give off a nice sound and ...
