Sony SRS D211

Advantages: Price, sound quality, looks, ease of use & set up
Disadvantages: speakers feel alittle too light for my liking but are very good none-the-less

I bought these from PC world to replace an older 2.1 yamaha set. The difference is amazing; the bass is deep and the higher notes are clear & crisp. I have tried it out with music ranging from Jay-Z to Mozart so far and I have been very impressed. £33 very well spent! My only concern is the satillites feel very light and plasticy... They sound good and feel quite well made but I like a heavy speaker but I guess thats neither here nor there. Setting ...
...instructions... The volume control is easy to use. And the subwoofer is a nice and chunky. Buy these if you want a good set of music speakers that can handle films and games (there are way better ones for those obviously...) But these will make any home audiophiles who havent won the lottery very happy indeed. Highly recommended! ...

A good, cheap set of 5.1 surround sound speakers.

Advantages: Cheap, fair sound quality and build, good for gaming and films on PC
Disadvantages: Few flaws such as stand not standing up, problem with sub.

...X 5 + 25W sub, when connected to a computer, they go loud enough to annoy everyone else in the house. All in all, not bad, good for games and film, has a few flaws, Sony could certainly improve it, but it wasn't a bad effort from Sony. ...

Compact Active Speakers

Advantages: Good design & Sound
Disadvantages: None

I had the Sony SRS-Z510 active speakers with my old PC which I had around 3-4 years ago. They were decent active speakers at the time and did the job. The first thing I noticed was that they were quite heavy and the second thing I noticed was that although they looked small from the front, they were actually good 12cm long in height. The audio cable supplied was around 2 meters in length which was standard supplied as speakers were designed to be ...
...Audio cable supplied The Sony SRS-Z510 active speakers looked neat when placed along side the computer. They weren't bulky and fitted nicely either side of the monitor I had at the time. The sound quality these speakers produced was quite good. I didn't ever get any distorted sound or crackling sounds from the speakers even at high volume. Overall the Sony SRS-Z510 active speakers were just what I wanted at that time and got the job done. I think ...

Very Impressed with Logitech Z4s

Advantages: Great Sound, Nice Design, Handy Separate Controller
Disadvantages: Fingerpring Magnet Finish

I've always been a little sceptical about spending money on 2.1 speaker systems - coming from a Musical Background and being trained in Music Technology means that I'm rather picky. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by this offering from Logitech. The sound is crisp and even, with a healthy amount of Mid Frequency which is often a "gray area" on cheaper 2.1 systems. The sub works well too - the independent bass volume control on the handy volume/power/input/control ...
...extra input on the controller, which is particularly useful if you don't fancy burrowing behind the sub to access the main input socket, or if you find that your input cable is just that little bit too short! The only problem I've found so far is that the Sub woofer is hardly "portable"!! Also, the sleek shiny black plastic front of the speakers and remote do act like a fingerprint magnet, so fairly frequent cleaning is needed to keep them looking ...

Finally, the missing piece of my (multimedia) life is in place!

Advantages: A sledgehammer and penknife of sound combined, perfect for many situations
Disadvantages: A good setup requires experimentation with position and is hard to perfect

...disorient an unsuspecting gamer then Creative must be doing something right! I dodge gunshots for breakfast! Punchy and powerful enough for gaming, but richly detailed and versatile for music and films. These speakers are WELL worth anybody's money as an upgrade, present to a loved one, present to yourself or one of those "accidental" buys you really "didn't" mean to go through with but can't seem to be bothered with sending back! Happy listening!! ...
