Firstly I have to say that the customer service in PCWorld is appauling and dismal. I've seen many people walk out of the Colliers Wood Store in Merton in disgust because they've been waiting in the queue to talk about their computer problems and then minutes later find themselves either talking to a brick wall or they have arguments with you and then tell you not to argue back. Eventually when you've bought a new product from PCWorld and it dosen't meet a customer's expectations PCWorld are reclutant to give refunds even if the product was sold to you and was defective from the start. Lot's of people leave PCWorld often angry at the way staff have behaved towards them. Only a handful of people may on a good day help you out if you have a probelm otherwiside if there's nothing in it for them then you can forget them helping you. If they can't sell you a computer that means that's comission that they've missed out on and they think your a waste of their valuable and precious time. At one point I went in to PCWorld of Colliers Wood and I was next in line to be servered. A staff member saw one of her friends walk in (I assumed it was her boyfriend). The staff member told this individual to come round the counter for qucik cuddle which he did. I was totally amazed that PCWorld allows this sort of breach of the rules to carry on. Anyway I went into PCWorld this afternoon with a friend of mine who bought a laptop in PCWorld Staples corner. My friend bought his laptop 3 weeks ago and within 5 days he noticed a defact with the laptop. The defact was acutally a screen defect that had occure inside the screen itself. My friend asked me if I could go to PCWorld in Staples Corner with him but I told him it would be better if he came to Colliers Wood and we would explain everthing to the tecnical staff and try and get a refund since the laptop didn't exactly meet his expctations of laptop without any defects. On behalf of my friend I explained the situation to the technical member of staff and he started arguing with me and then said he didn't want to argue with me and I shouldn't argue with him. I told the guy that my friend is the customer and he's forked out 500 pounds for a laptop that dosen't meet his epectations and there is a fault with the screen. We thought the least PCWorld could do would be to either replace the laptop, get the screen fixed since it was still under PCWorld's 1 year guarantee after only being bout 3 weeks ago or failing those things at least give us a refund. None of these options we're made available to us. I, on behalf of my friend have got in touch with Watchdog, Which and The Consumer's Association to see if they can shed some more light on the matter in hand and then try and get us a refund. If we don't get a full and complete refund a letter will be written on behalf of my friend by a Solicitor and if PCWorld still fail to give my friend a refund then Bailfs will be sent in to PCWorld Staples Corner to sell off items in-store until the debt has been paid in full.
I cannot recommend PCWorld as a good computer retailer since a lot of their staff are not fully comiitted to the cause of the customer - NO SALE MEANS NO COMMISSION and PCWorld staff are not only paid a basic wage but are paid commission aswell. For anyone wanting to purchase a computer then I'd recommended STAPLES but not PCWorld. What let's PCWorld down 95% of the time are it's staff since they are not trained properly.
