Advantages Stock all kinds of consumables
Disadvantages The lack of PC Knowledge Sales staff have
I have only been writing and reading opinions on Ciao for a few weeks now. Interestingly, I have come across all kinds of opinions where people are favouring products or taking out their anger on others.
As you will be aware that the title of my opinion is that why are they not training the sales staff with PC knowledge. The urgency came up for me to review my local PC World store as I have seen the customer care going down like the tech bubble bursting on the stock market. My current PC was purchased from PC World about four years ago. There's nothing special to it, a patriot, 433MHz, 64MB RAM, 6GB Harddrive, and a Pioneer DVD ROM. Luckily, I have never had any problems with my PC.
Now when I went to purchase my PC I came across atleast four to five sales staff in one hour. I already knew quite a bit about PC's as I was studying Information Technology at college. So, I roughly did have in mind of what I was looking for. What amused was that all these sales staff who came to me were all trying to get me signed up to the extended coverplan. I did know how everything worked, as I was going to receive a one year manufacturer's guarantee anyway, and my PC didn't cost much, so why spend the same the amount on a coverplan which you might never have to use.Recently, I went into my local store to purchase a black refill for my printer and a new modem. This time, no member staff approached to assist me, but when I got to the checkout the individual on the till was struggling.
Can I stress that I am not criticising the individuals I have seen working, but the management who run these stores.I came across a job advert the other day, where they were looking for a sales assistant to work in one of their stores. I DO HAVE TO MENTION THAT THIS ADVERT WAS FROM THE COMPUTER WORLD AND NOT PC WORLD.
What amused me was that what kind of person they were looking for was someone with experience in sales and knowledge of PC's wasn't important. I came to conclusion that what I have been thinking was right, as more and more stores try to concentrate more on selling products to us consumers with all kind of tricks and not focus on what we want in terms of our personal needs.
Maybe, in the near future I will review this opinion as more facts and information becomes available.

I totally agree with what you are saying. My bf applied there a few years back and he is a computer expert. He has been building PC's from the age 7 and knows the ins and outs and everything. He is now a computer programmer. Well when he applied for the position of sales assistant he was told that they didnt want someone who knew about computers, they wanted someone who could sell them!!!! PC World management are after money and thats it!!!! I wonder why people still shop there!!!
