The first shop that comes into my head when buying a PC is PC World! Why? - Our story!
My girlfriend had £800 to but a new PC, and a few other items! We set off to PC world! We are only young, so we went with her mother. We had looked around, but by the time she was awarded the money, the sales had ended! However there seemed to be a good deal on A PC. A full PC with digital camera, printer and scanner, we were impressed!
A salesman asked if he could help, and I thought I knew a bit about IT, so asked a few questions, no it didn’t have Microsoft word, but fair play he seemed to know what he was on about and was out-weighing me in his knowledge of PCs. This is good for staff, especially as my girlfriends mum did not have a clue!
We decided to go for the PC, and he was an honest salesman, explaining that the digital camera was not up to much! We needed a desk, by buying this we had a discount as it was with the PC, pity we did not have a discount with the chair too!
The main problem is that he seemed too intelligent, and got us to be some circuit breaker plug thing as well as blank CDs as he said no one uses floppy disks, yet we are in school and college, and floppy disks are what we always use!
When we got it all home, we could not install the digital camera because the disk did not come with it, we had to go back to get it!
We also could not get the printer to work, so took it back to the store! They have a PC Clinic, where they can check and repair computers, although we had to wait a while for them to tell us the printer did not work, and get another one! (The worst bit was walking out the door and the alarm goes off, how embarrassing)!
At present everything works fine, the PC is a bit slow, but we did buy bottom of the range!
For prices I would say that PC world are good, but the sales man did say they make a lot of money from laptops, so BEWARE!
The staff were helpful, but watch out that you do not buy something that you do not need, insurance though is always worth it!
The stores are presented well, with a wide variety of items, and plenty of the same!
The after sales service was reasonable, and the PC Clinic is useful, especially if your PC breaks down, they service them and fix them for a fee, even if you did not buy your PC from there!
I recommend PC world, but like I have said, be cautious!

Every time I have got something from there, it seem's to either be dead or dies. They did the same to me try to con you into buying other stuff that you don't need, very pushy I won't use them any more. Jayne x

Sounds like a typical experience of shopping at PC World. You do need to stand your ground when they do the push on the "must have" extras
Advantages: There's bound to be a store near you. Disadvantages: Misinformed sales staff, misleading advertising, expensive for components, expensive support
