Cheap protection for an expensive item Advantages: Value for money, good protection, custom made Disadvantages: Diificult to fit the first time Touch screen devices such as smartphones & PDAs are becoming more & more common these days. Some are finger friendly & most have a separate stylus for carrying out tasks. The screen is a very sensitive component of these devices & expensive to replace. When you tap the screen or drag the stylus across the screen you increase the chances of damaging it. I remember when I bought my first PDA, within days a tiny particle of grit landed on the screen ... ...across the screen it left a small but noticeable scratch. I had no option but to invest in screen protectors, if that is the damage after a few days what would it be like after a few years? I have used these protectors ever since on various devices, the outlay is very little (about £5.00) but they keep your device it tip top condition. They are usually sold in the size required for your device, I would avoid any that need to be cut to size. INSTALLATION ... Plastic protection Advantages: Protects your screen for a long time Disadvantages: Quite expensive for what they are This pack of 3 oblong plastic sheets are advertised as screen protectors for PDA's. Whilst they are suitable for this purpose may I suggest that they can also be used to protect the screen on your mobile phone. We are all in such a rush these days that even our prized possessions just generally get thrown into our pockets or handbags. In turn they get scratched and damaged and are in desperate need of some better form of protection than the flimsy ... ...I purchased cost just over £6 which is £2 each and this to many of you may indeed seem a bit pricey, myself included. This really is not the case when you consider the protection you get for your 2 quid. The sheets of plastic come oversized for all PDA's and must be cut to size making it very easy to cut one to fit the screen of your mobile. A template is provided for most models of PDA, but guess what mine was not one of those on the list. RIM Blackberry Leather Pocket Advantages: Stylish and provides screen protection. Disadvantages: Slightly bulky In my opinion this is a great accessory for any blackberry user and a must have. This product has saved my phone from damage on numerous occasions and looks stylish and elegent when your phone is left on the desk in the office. My only slight concern is the qaulity of the stitching down the sides of the case as my leather pocket has loose stitching to the right hand side. A bit of a relic these days Advantages: Does its job well Disadvantages: Looks a bit out of place I mostly use my new Palm Tungsten, which does not require the cradle to be synchronised with my PC. I do however have an old M315 palm, which has several of the applications and games I have on my newer version. One such application is Scrabble. It is of course possible to play the game as a two-player game on one unit, but it is preferable to use two units and the infrared to stop the hassle of passing one unit back and forward for each players ... ...still just £20 for my palm and the cradle. Firstly I have to say that if you are looking for a snazzy flash unit to connect your M315 or compatible palm to the cradle then disappointment number one. It certainly looks OK but its looks like it came straight out of the eighties, dull black, no LED indicator, in fact pretty plain looking. Life On The Blackberry Advantages: Colourful, Durable, Protective Disadvantages: Doesnt proptect the screen or keypad of the blackberry I bought a blackberry curve last year on a contract with orange for £25 quid a month. It gets me 300 texts and 100 minutes but unlimited internet. As i know many people with blackberries it was the internet i was most excited about.
