I wouldn't buy one again
Review of Palm IIIe by
claireq19
Advantages: Easy to use, easy to read, lots of functions plus downloads available
Disadvantages: Flimsy, batteries run down really quickly, the colour is a bit naff
I bought this with a view to using it instead of a diary but it really doesn't make a very good substitute.
I opted for the light green version which looks cheap and nasty but it was the only colour in stock at the time. The first thing that struck me was the fact that the fold-over cover wouldn't last long - it didn't. The little stylus is a devil to get out of it's hole if you don't have nails, and easy to lose when you do manage to retrieve it.
... ...much the same as every other PDA. It is easy to use, the icons are clear to understand and there are drop down menus a la windows. There are lots of programmes available on the internet to download for it, but they tend to use up loads of memory. The 'hotsync' cradle idea is good and means that you can back it up easily. On the down side, you need to back it up regularly as it goes through batteries like there's no tomorrow. I still use a diary, ...

Palm IIIx
Review of Palm IIIx by
gametester1985
Advantages: see write
Disadvantages: see write
...it can nevertheless be the Palm IIIx Organizer useful, however in no case as importantly as my PERSONAL COMPUTER is, or is of Handy! With a format of 8x12 cm, Palm III. Organizer is a very practical device. It fits ideally into the palm of the hand or into the pocket or the file suitcase. He functions with two batteries alkaline AAA, has a fencing under that itself the screen is. A quite big screen (6x6 cm), under it a small face with four illustrations ... ...the most important functions of Palm III. (included the green button for switching on and off of the device). 3Com which developed the Palm III also thought of the important light function so that one has no problems too in darkening. An a little longer pressing onto the green ON/OFF switch brings a pleasant green light into the screen. I can not yet answer whether however the batteries will hold for a long time with this function and this screen ...

20th century technophile’s 'Gameboy’with attitude
Review of Handspring Visor - Palm OS 3.1 - MC68EZ328 16 MHz - RAM: 2 MB ( 160 x 160 ) - graphite by
docmedic
Advantages: Springboard Expansion Slot, Funky transparent casing and an equally cool hotsync dock, very to use, backlight that enables use in absolute darkness, stylus has a hidden screwdriver function
Disadvantages: Tend to crash a lot which is a very bad point thus major data loss, consumes a lot of batteries, dim backlight
...no longer in production, although Handspring does sell reconditioned Visors at about £50. My main purpose in writing this review is to show what PDAs were like 3 years ago, and how much PDAs have advanced technologically nowadays.
-PRODUCT INFO-
Processor : Motorola MC68EZ328 16 MHz
RAM: 2 MB
Display: 2 Bit (4 grey levels)
Input Device: Touch screen
Battery: 2 x AAA battery
Average run time: 2 weeks (this depends on how regular you use it. ... ...it a bit disappointing that Handspring didn't include a built in voice recorder with the Visor. I owned my Visor for 3 years and I have never operated the microphone.
-IR PORT-
The left side of the unit has an IR port. As with other Palm OS units, this port can be used to sync, and transfer data / files. The Visor can send and receive data from other IR enabled Palm OS devices.
-STYLUS-
The right side has the stylus silo. The stylus looks like ...

Pen and Paper is Still better Than This
Review of Handspring Visor Deluxe by
Champ666
Advantages: Handy To Do List, Future Antique
Disadvantages: Not Much Cop At All
Years ago a boss of mine (who bored an uncanny resemblance to the pointy haired boss in the Dilbert comics, both in appearance and attitude) advised me to get one of these babies to help with my organisational skills, like most advice given by that idiot I completely ignored him. I preferred using notebook and pen and still do.
However seeing that they were going cheap on eBay I got mine for 18 quid I decided to have a go. If you decide to have ... ...in mind that this beastie is OLD technology and is very limited in what it can do.
Ok so what does it do then well basically it is an organizer and nothing more with the following features…..
Address book, Calculator, to do list, date book, expense form thing which is compatible with excel, memo pad and mail which is compatible with Outlook. In the few weeks I have had it the only thing I have used is the to do list which has proved to be pretty ...

A WorkPad well worth having
Review of IBM WorkPad PC C3 by
carolejuliasmith2
Advantages: compact, easy to use, good screen, great organiser
Disadvantages: not much RAM, can easily be mislaid
...about it is like all IBM products you can use their support tech-chat. It is really helpful and suited my basic knowledge right down to the ground when it came to any difficulties but so far there haven’t been many. If you need to use them tell Tim that Carole sends her regards! Finally I think that if you are into games big time then the limited amount of RAM may prove a difficulty but it is more than sufficient for my needs. Finally a warning: ...
