Different experience or is it expectations?
Advantages: Light, easy to use, easy to manage. Disadvantages: Need additional lighting on aircraft. Needs more support from third party suppliers.
Well I purchased a Sony PRS505 after much research into eBooks and I find that it is perfect for what I want. I have used it to read in normal lighting in my living room and in my garden. My main reason for the purchase was to enable me to read books when on travel without having to lug multiple books around (you know how it is; you are nearly finished one and you know that it will not last you an entire trip).
I can find none of the 'symptoms' ... ...of 'flicker' when turning pages but this is apparently normal and it certainly doesn't detract from my enjoyment of a book (though I admit that I tend to click the 'next page' button just before I've finished the last sentence. But then I used to start to turn pages with paper books in the same way.
I did buy the cover that provides ambient light for use on aircraft as my research indicated that this would be needed.
The only possible downsides ...

IPAQ 214 - Good product let down by poor reliability
Advantages: Ease of use Disadvantages: Reliability and customer service
...the base of the IPAQ. HP "service" say I have made a mistake and want to charge me over £100 to repair the unit. They are not listening to customers who know there is a genuine issue with the equipment. A pity because in all other respects, the IPAQ fully satisfied my requirements, was easy to set up and use and promised to be a useful piece of equipment. I can still use it but only with the USB charging facility which is very slow and requires computer ...

HP iPAQ 114 - A fine 'basic' PDA
Advantages: Value for money, fast processor, stylus Disadvantages: Weight (too light!), lots of pressure needed to use touch screen
HP iPaq 114 Classic
Background
HP's iPAQ 114 Classic is amongst one of the newest models released by HP in its completely overhauled range. This new series of PDAs consists of; the 100 & 200 series which are basic PDAs running on Windows Mobile 6.0, the 300 series (which has built in GPS) and the 600 & 900 series which have built in cellular phones and GPS system.
I am reviewing a model which sits in the 100 series.

Overview
The HP iPAQ 114 has had a bit of a face lift when comparing it with older revisions of the iPAQ family however it still manages to keep the well known shape and layout common to most iPAQs past and present. The brushed metal effect with chrome buttons is pleasing to the eye yet it doesn't look too cheap and tacky.
Notable specifications for the HP iPAQ 114 are as follows;
- Windows Mobile 6 Classic operating system
- Marvell 624Mhz ...

Cool kit but be careful of the common problems
Advantages: Versatality, VFM and free software availiable for Palm OS Disadvantages: Known issues and glitches
...to be converted for the palm screen but when converted properly (try VemoDe, totally free palm video convertor) they play very well.
-The on screen keyboard shortcut doesn't work after a while meaning you have to use the character recognition, which thankfully works quite well!
But on the plus side, there are tonnes of free programs and games availiable for it, an excellent mp3 player which can play for a very long time before the battery runs ...

The reliable Internet Tablet
Advantages: the price is still expensive Disadvantages: Recommended web browser and email it also works well with the
...front of the N810 except Nokia logo in the upper right corner.
It supports touch screen, but Nokia is still felt it necessary to include a QWERTY keyboard hidden in the second tier of the Internet tablet. Unfortunately, the buttons are too close to make the keyboard so it feels futile. But for you accustomed to use the touch screen, the keyboard can be enough is still functioning.
