Superb bit of kit
Review of HP Jornada 680 by dave27

Advantages: Portable, synchronisation, screen, has a keyboard, good internet connectivity
Disadvantages: Keyboard a bit small

...FIND THE CATEGORY The HP Jornada is one smart bit of kit - a PDA or palm top, I guess, you'd call it. I got one about a month ago at work and it was a straight choice for me between this and a Palm, but in the end the internet connectivity and the keyboard were what drove me to choose the Jornada and I've not been disappointed. The keyboard is a bit fiddly and my big fingers sometimes get the top two rows of keys mixed up. Also the set does have ...
...top half with the monitor open too far. Those gripes aside, however, I've been very impressed. The major use I've found for the Jornada is keeping my home PC and my work machine synchronised. Once you've got the synchronisation software and processing set up it's an absolute dream - the first time I set it up at home though I forgot to reboot my desktop PC after connecting the Jornada and I was pulling my hair out because I couldn't get the link ... Now past its best
Review of HP Jornada 690 by dave27

Advantages: Annoys the neighbours
Disadvantages: Unreliable and bulky

The HP Jornada is one smart bit of kit - a PDA or palm top, I guess, you'd call it. I've been using one for about three or four years now, through my job. Most people I know who have opted for handheld or palm tops have opted for iPaqs, and they certainly are nice swish little beasties and eminently cooler than the Jornada series which look quite bulky and old fashioned these days. However, I need to have a machine with a keyboard for my particular ...
...recognition and never really quite made it. That said, there is really no other choice but to get a Hewlett Packard Jornada, as it's a decent compromise between the powerful and the compact. The keyboard is very small and fiddly and it's easy to miss keying in so I wouldn't advise you to use this for a lot of keying in. However, for most uses it's easy enough as long as you take your time. Also, the box isn't very well weighted and does have a nasty ... Read review

Blackberry Pearl? More of a diamond...
Review of Blackberry Pearl 8110 by mallamaloo

Advantages: Does most things it should simply and well whilst still being phone sized
Disadvantages: Viewing some attachments is virtually impossible

...I also get a blackberry instant message from a mate asking if I want to go for lunch. Nice! On the train to work I look at the emails to see what I'm going to face when I get to the office. Not much to worry about so I fire up the brickbreaker, the 'pearl' in the middle has taken some getting used to with brickbreaker but I'm starting to get some decent scores. More seriously though the 'pearl' at first is a little awkward but before long you're ...
...can get it on the blackberry as it's a word doc (pdfs I don't even bother trying because it's a nightmare with the blackberry). On the way home I catch up on a few emails, the predictive texting is ok and takes some getting used to but I'm a speed demon on it now so I can ping off a couple of emails within five mins. Sort that out and then text the wife to let her know my train time. I wouldn't say this is a smart phone, personal digital assistant ... Read review

Nokia n96
Review of Nokia N96 by Gippon

Advantages: Massive internal memory with option to expand, large 2.8" display, wi-fi support, 5 MP camera
Disadvantages: Same battery as n95, annoying camera button, no light sensor or integrated graphics chip

...sleeker than both the original Nokia n95 and the n95 8GB. This is in part due to the removal of the camera slider which was present on the n95 and it is also using the same battery as the original n95 (950MhA). This could be seen as a disadvantage considering the awful battery life of the original n95, this problem was somewhat addressed by Nokia with the release of the n95 8GB which included a higher capacity battery (1200MhA). However Nokia have ...
...in landscape mode. This time Nokia have realised this by the inclusion of a "kick stand" on the back of the phone positioned under the camera. This acts as a stand so the phone can be angled at viewing pleasure when it is placed upon a surface. The camera itself is the same from the n95 and n95 8GB and like the n95 8GB this does not contain a slider for extra protection. Nokia have now included dual LEDs for flash photography but I personally would ... Read review

The Bold and the Beautiful
Review of BlackBerry Bold 9000 by mynameisrui

Advantages: Great looking, very easy to use
Disadvantages: Poor Battery

After recently getting the Blackberry Bold I thought I'd share my thoughts about it. Traditionally a Blackberry is known for being solely aimed at the business market with one of its main selling points being the fact that you have constant email access which is of course very important for some people. They were not aimed at the consumer market in terms of looks or capabilities. However, the Blackberry Bold (BB) aims to change that. With the recent ...
...the Blackberry isn't so businessey and may have some appeal to the consumer market. The BB has been very much designed not only for practical reasons, but also in order to attract potential new customers. Gone are the brick like Blackberry's and in is the very attractive looking Blackberry Bold. Design Looking at the phone from the outside it certainly looks very good. On the front you are presented with a full QWERTY keyboard which is sized very ... Read review
