And there it was - one of the London Boroughs advertising for Schools Cycling Proficiency Instructors.
So I applied.
I got an interview.
I got the job.
Wow, that’s two jobs I’ve applied for externally in 32 years and got both of them! Still, mustn’t give the impression I’m a fly-by-night just using my jobs as stepping- stones, eh?
I should also add that the process involved the taking up of references AND Police checks, since I would be dealing with children. A reference from my wife’s school’s head no doubt helped, since I have been lending a hand there for years.

Advantages: Very helpful, very efficient, friendly company Disadvantages: None with the company, unfortunately I ordered the wrong thing.
The Digital Camera Company have been very helpful and I would like to recommend them to everyone. I bought a mains adapter from them, but although it was delivered next working day I discovered that I had ordered the wrong one. (Not the fault of the company obviously) So when I phoned them that day, they suggested I send it straight back by recorded delivery, which i did the same day (Wednesday). I received the new one on Friday morning, and as it was for a present for my sister she got it on time. But I have to express my thanks and say how impressed I was with the speed and proficiency with which they dealt with the replacement of my order.
