Chaka-Chaka-Pata-Pon!

Advantages: Original, cheerful, and attractive
Disadvantages: Gets old a little fast. Fizzles out quickly.

...for four beats while the Patapon carry out the action and sing the beat back. Then you repeat. This might sound dull but it requires a surprising amount of concentration. You can also use commands to attack, defend, run away, and charge up your attack although to be honest you'll only use attack, run away, and walk for most of the game. When you keep a good beat going for a certain amount of bars (building up a combo) you enter Fever mode where ...
...also a couple of battles which are stupidly challenging, although once you've powered up your units a bit you're pretty much untouchable. All in all Patapon is a great game but sorely overrated. Never-the-less, it's a near essential purchase, and one that can be made without breaking the bank. ...

Even more of a challenge than the prequel

Advantages: Fun, easy to play, challenging
Disadvantages: As the prequel, backgrounds sometimes distracting

...to live up to. However, Lumines 2 doesn't disappoint, not one single bit. If you are unfamiliar with Lumines, the aim of the game is to put same-coloured blocks together (each block has 4 squares, and when you put at least 4 squares together in a square, the 'laser' sweeps past and eliminates them, generating points). Basically, its an advanced take on Tetris, which is everyone's favourite puzzle game (arguably). The sound track is quite mesmorising ...
...the game. In game graphics are not exactly advanced - it really is a bit difficult to get 'good' graphics in such a simple puzzle game, but it suits the game fine, is colourful, although sometimes distracting. There are a tonne of different game modes available, such as 'challenge' mode, 'vs' mode, and the traditional single player mode. I won't go into too much detail, as it is good to discover everything by yourself. I found that it is very easy ...

Lemmings - Bang goes another evening

Advantages: Absorbing, Addictive, Fun, Entertaining
Disadvantages: You can lose days on end

...highly addictive. The lemmings drop out of a hatch and walk - and without your intervention, that's all they do. Your job is to guide them towards their goal using a limited number of specialist skills. The skills are as follows: Climber: Once a lemming has been turned into a climber, he will climb any vertical face Floater: Once a lemming has been turned into a floater he will survive any fall by opening a little umbrella Bomber: A bomber will blow ...
...let anyone past, forcing the lemmings to change direction Builder: A builder will build a diagonal staircase of 12 bricks in the direction he is walking Basher: A basher will bash his was through an adjacent vertical surface Miner: A miner will dig diagonally down through vertical or horizontal surfaces in the direction he is walking Digger: A digger will dig vertically down through any horizontal surface The trick is to work out how to use your ...

AVerage Monkey Ball Adventure

Advantages: still has best minigames, can play as doctor
Disadvantages: a changed format that isn't fun, glitches

After being a fan of the previous Monkey Ball games such as Monkey Ball Deluxe on the PS2, i had high expectations of the PSP equivilent, and i was dissapointed that it did not live up to my expectations. Where all previous monkey ball games have been based on puzzles trying to reach the goal without falling off and collecting bananas along the way, packed with fun minigames, the new version attempts a kind of 3D Mario platform style where you have ...
...simply doesnt accomplish this very well, with several glitches along the way. The best minigames such as Monkey target (the ball opens up to become wings and the aim is to land on a target for points) and Monkey racing (self explanatory) are still present but don't live up to their PS2 equivilants. There is a good mis of characters to play as from Aiai and Gongong to Baby and Doctor, but all ahve the same exact featues and abilities. The graphics ...

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge - Quality Racing Action

Advantages: Fantastic Concept, Good Longitivity, Doesn't Get Boring
Disadvantages: A bit repetitive?

...version of their newest game MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, but a standalone game exclusively for the PSP, and as Assassins Creed Bloodlines proved to me, the standalones “sequels” are something to get excited for. I was really excited because I was looking for a good racing game, but nothing took my fancy until MotorStorm. What is MotorStorm About? For the people who have played MotorStorm on PS3, its basically that but on the PlayStation Portable, ...
...MotorStorm: Arctic Edge MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is just like the other 2 games in the Ps3, it allows you to go crazy with boost and go wild on the track, but as the title suggests it has a wintery/snowy theme to it. So now you are racing in the mountain regions all covered in snow and ice, mud and rock and you’re doing it in a similar line up of vehicles as before, the Bike, Rally Car, ATV, Buggy and the Big Rig, but in addition you get a Snowplugger, ...
