Out of the box it looks pretty much like any other Serial ATA drives, although you can tell it is a Maxtor drive (and not just because of the huge label with Maxtor written on it either). Here are the drives full specifications from Maxtor:

...the leading edgeLTO tapes have a small spring loaded "door" at the side through which the tape is dispensed into the drive. So unlike your videos, which spool from one side to the other, this is spun out in one long line and then rewound. I could be totally wrong but Fuji and the other manufacturers are a little obscure on this!
Enough of that anyway; what do you do with them?
You copy your ever so precious data onto it. Now I'm willing to bet a penny to an LTO drive that your data isn't worth £3000+. Nope, didn't think so.
But for business it is. Frequently it's worth a lot more than that.
Your average home user will NEVER need this much storage capacity. Each tape has a native (I.E. Uncompressed) capacity of 200GB. Most home PCs don't even have hard drives that big. Compress the data and you can get a theoretical capacity of 400GB...

Advantages: Pro: Slinky, power-packed server for cramped datacentres. Disadvantages: Con: No 64-bit PCI slots, not enough PCI expansion slots.
...AIC-7899 Ultra3 SCSI host adapter supports these disks and the SCSI backplane automatically configures the SCSI ID numbers and SCSI termination on individual hard-disk drives, greatly simplifying drive installation.
The fifth hard drive can be fitted in the external bay, all are hot pluggable. In our test model this bay was filled with a PV100T DDS-4 DAT backup drive. This lets IT administrators allocate more processor power and storage in a standard rack.
For IT administrators who want to scale beyond 90GB of storage with external arrays, an Ultra2 Raid controller is available with an external connector.
The PowerEdge 2450 hosts an internal PERC3/Si Ultra3 Raid controller, priced at £199 + VAT, with 64MB of cache to handle up to five hot-plug Ultra3 hard drives. It supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, and 10. The Raid controller does...

Power Edge is main line of Dell servers. 2950 is most universal base server from that line. If you are not sure what spec should your server have, just order it with one dual core CPU (1333MHz bus, not 1066; makes big difference), RAID5, three HDDs and... more
