Pac-Man World 3 (Nintendo DS)

Pac-Man World 3 is the little round yellow guy's third venture into the increasingly over saturated 3D platforming market.

The levels involve collecting items, pushing switches to raise platforms, pushing more switches to open doors, pushing switches to reveal more switches. I found the experience pretty soul destroying.

...found I could not get Pac-Man to do the simplest of tasks. There seems to be no purpose in playing this game. It's more like an exercise in pressing buttons than a fun gaming experience.

The only good thing about this game are the bonus stages which involves Pacman, in a top down maze, eating dots and avoiding ghosts. Sound familiar? Its ironic that the best part of Pac-Mans latest next-gen adventure reverts back to the classic gameplay ... more

Pacman is an institution and a classic video game character. This of course means that he will be reincarnated as many times as possible in about a million games that slowly become more and more disastrous and destroy the essence of what made him great in the first place.

Pac-Man World 3 is the little round yellow guy's third venture into the increasingly over saturated 3D platforming market.

The levels involve collecting items, pushing switches to raise platforms, pushing more switches to open doors, pushing switches to reveal more switches. I found the experience pretty soul destroying.

The graphics are very glitchy and buggy. Also there are barely any colours, usually only purple and grey with a big fat yellow dot running around them, so the whole journey through the game seems to merge into one unsatisfyingly long bore.

Like a lot of games for the DS, Namco have tagged on a use for the touch screen. Pacman is able to perform a 'Rev Roll' which involves charging up Pacman and making him roll very quickly forward to solve puzzles and activate switches. To do it you hold down the roll button and then touch the screen to activate. This got annoying very quickly and serves enitirely no purpose at all.

This game is pretty challenging, but only because the platform sections are frustrating and unforgiving. The controls are ropey and I found I could not get Pac-Man to do the simplest of tasks. You can unlock an interview with Pac-Mans creator which is quite interesting, but this reveals no insight into why he would let his name get put on a product like this.

In conclusion, I would recommend downloading Pac-Man and saving your cash for something better. Which pretty much includes anything that costs thirty pounds.
