Advantages Nice & Simple with controls on VCR Unit
Disadvantages Heads seem to need cleaning at least weekly
My disabled son had finally demolished his old Matsui VCR and so a replacement needed to be sought.
The most important factor would be that it must be possible to opperate the VCR from the front panel of the VCR as he is not capable of using the remote control. This immeadiately removes about 80% of VCR's, which now go for a minimalist design.
After browsing catalogs and various stores we decided on the Pacific VCR from ASDA, we also have a Pacific DVD which although large can play any format DVD and is very reliable. The VCR looks OK it's Silver and has the play, fast forward and rewind buttons in a circular format. as well as the stop/eject button on the front.
To our delight our son mastered these conrols in around 1 hour and can now play, stop, eject, reveiw and cue his videos. The downside to this product is that we are having to clean the heads weekly at least which seems a bit drastic, but I do have to admit that the Video does take a bit of a battering as it is on almost every hour my son is awake and in the house and is often watched on cue or reveiw for hours at a time.
Anyway Overall we are pleased as it was Cheap ( under £40) meets Harrys' needs and has so far survived 4 months of continuous and agressive use
