This is my second MP3 player, the previous one was a 256mb Packard Bell, which can also be used for saving data on, I soon found that I had so much data backup on my Funkey, that I had no space left for my MP3's!!!

I decided to by a dedicated MP3 player, and free the old one just for data! I had been happy with my previous Packard bell so decided to look for the same brand, I came across the Audiostar in my local Currys.

The audiostar comes in 2 different memory sizes, the 512mb and the 1024mb (1gb) I decided to opt for the 1024mb, in the hope I wont need to upgrade again too soon!!!

The audiostar is a unique and flashy MP3 storage device and player. It uses flash memory. And also comes with an inbuilt voice recorder which is capable of upto 16 hours voice recording time.

The audiostar is quite light at only 49g and has a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery which will last for approx 8 hrs of continuous playback. Packard Bell claim in the manual that it has 10 hours continuous playing time, however I have been unable to get mine to last that long, this does of course depend on the type of battery you are using, volume you play at and even the temperature can affect battery life!

My audiostar came withearphones, USB cable, installation CD and charger. I have found my audiostar to have excellent sound quaility, it has pre-set sound modes, Normal, XBass, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Pop. I like lots of base in my music, and the audiostar deffinatly has a great sound deffinition.

It can also play back music in 2 formats, MP3 and WMA I preffer WMA because you can compress WMA more with your standard windows media player, so there is no need to use 3rd party software to create MP3 files, you can of course save in MP3 using windows media player but you can not compress that type of file.

This is a definate, reccommended product, well done to packard bell.
