The first and last laptop that I used was the Packard Bell EasyNote E6. My memories of this product are pleasant ones, never did I have abnormal technical problems or faults and it ran as smooth as a skate on ice. I had it for a year and I re-installed Windows XP professional only once due to a self induced predicament. Disregarding the system that runs on the E6 the laptop itself is technically stable and robust, though structurally I have experienced minor, hair-line fracture along the right hand hinge of the lid. However I put this down to a rather rough-and-tumble lifestyle with the military; any orthodox, residential use wouldn't do ANY harm, I'm sure.
Design…
The sleek, slender structure of the EasyNote E6 makes for a vastly ergonomic and attractive product. Its body is a mere 3.6cm (1.25inch) thick and slides neatly into any case or storage space. Unlike many other laptops the E6's 15inch screen reaches to the far corners of the lid, taking full advantage of the space available. Any space that isn't used on the lid for the screen is used resourcefully with constructive indicative lightning such as for power, mains supply or battery. Space is very cleverly used with this product and totals a meager 3kg in weight! Overall the E6's design is superb and attractive with all aspects of the product clearly labeled for ease of use.
The Technical Bit…
Today more than ever USB is becoming a highly popular scheme. This makes the E6 a forerunner with its 4 USB ports; however the ports are located in a concentrated block on the left side of the laptop. I have experienced this being a problem especially with USB mice that regularly have short wires for portability. I often found that a USB mouse simply wasn't practical and couldn't reach. This is relatively one small problem as the E6 redeems itself with the ability to plug in an independent monitor and it has a built in microphone. Lots of unused space at the back could be used to host more or better placed USB ports. The laptop is fully LAN and wireless internet capable with easy access ports that don't get in the way functionality. The E6 boasts a reliable rewritable CD drive but no floppy disk drive, though this isn't unusual in today's technology.
Now for the Money…
For what you get with the Packard Bell EasyNote E6 it has a very reasonable price tag. In most stores such as Curry's you are looking at a price tag not deviating from a £600 mean, thus making this laptop, in my opinion, a must for the modern college or university student. All stores offer insurance at around £36 for a year, I'd say that you're unlikely to have to call upon it, but it is always safe to have insurance. I'd also advice that you buy a carry case. Be sure that the case you buy has ample padding and extra storage space, for this an 'Antler' product would be a good choice.
In Conclusion…
To conclude I highly recommend the Packard Bell EasyNote E6 to further education and higher education students and beginners in the IT world. It is easy to manage, maintain and use and with normal use will last a life time.

Advantages: Reliable, comes with Powercinema, Windows XP, Media Player Disadvantages: Doesn't come with Microsoft Office but don't think the smaller models do
