...This was quite an expensive computer, but it did come with a lot of extras. There was a printer, a scanner and DVD romdrive and lots of software. It is quite good to get all these things in one package but the printer isnt the best and the ink cartrages are quite expensive. The DVD is very good but I find it uncomfortable sitting at my desk watching a film on the 15" monitor Id prefer to lie down on the sofa and put watch on a big TV but there is no way to connect it to the TV. The sofware is pre installed on the hard drive and is mostly for people new to computers but did include the excellent microsoft word. One thing that bugs me is the PackardBell website has no mention of this model of computer, the club 80. This means I have to search around for drivers myself and the documentation is very scetchy aswell. But on the whole...

I have a pentium 111 processor with 1.0GHz and 12 speed cache. I also have 128 Megs of ram and plan to add another 128 very soon. It has a 40 gb hard drive and I am running windows ME on it which I love.
It does have a 56 k modem or did. I now have a cable modem so it whizzes along even faster. There is no problem multi-tasking so I can run many things at once...

Advantages: Good user-friendly home machine, nicely designed, plug&play Disadvantages: BAD support, SLOW machine, not easily upgradable
...I was very happy some time ago to have purchased a PackardBell Club 40 desktop computer. It worked fine - for a while, then one day, the CD-Drive just wouldn't read CD's. So, before taking any rash action, I consulted the manual. NOTHING. So I went to their website, which was written on the box of the machine, only to find that the machine I had bought, did no actually exist on the site - so there was NO support for it! So I had to buy a new CD-Romdrive. Problem with that is, the new drive I bought is soooo powerful that the machine overheats, and you have to switch it off at the mains for ages then switch it back on again, before it works! Terrible....
